Matt White, 52, of Cape Haze, Fla., died Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, due to complications from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.  

Matt was born in Valparaiso on Dec. 22, 1966. He was married to Shartrina Rogers in May 2006. She survives.

He grew up in North Manchester and graduated from North Manchester High School in 1985.

After his diagnosis, Matt started the Matt White Cure ALS Foundation to fund the ALS research. The foundation has raised over $552,000 toward finding a cure for ALS and is being recognized as a Partners in Collaboration honoree by the Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at John Hopkins this year.

A memorial service in Indianapolis is planned for March 23. Details will be announced on Matt’s Caring Bridge website: www.caringbridge.org/visit/mattwhitegodawgs.
