An alleged stolen identity led to deception and forgery charges against a Warsaw man.

Nolman Edilzar Escobar-Gomez, 24, of 734 E. Center St., was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 5:57 p.m. Tuesday for deception with bond of $5,000 surety and $750 cash.

Court documents filed Wednesday list the charges against him as identity deception, a level 6 felony, and forgery, a level 6 felony.

On Oct. 3, a Wisconsin police officer spoke with a man who said someone was using his name and identity information without his permission.

Wisconsin police found that the person was working at Packers Sanitation Services, which does work for Maple Leaf Farms in Milford. Officers provided the employment application and tax forms that the person had filled out to obtain the job at Packers Sanitation Services.

Warsaw Police Officer Jeffrey Ticknor went to Maple Leaf Farms on Tuesday and spoke with the person working under the victim’s name. He was identified as Escobar-Gomez.

Escobar-Gomez admitted he purchased the victim’s name and identifying information. He used that information to fill out an employment application at Packers Sanitation Services on Aug. 12.
