A Warsaw man is facing a theft charge after allegedly stealing from his employer and drug charges after police found methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana in his home on a search warrant.

He was released on his own recognizance, with an initial hearing set for 8:15 a.m. Thursday.

Court documents filed Monday list the charges against him as possession of methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances, a level 5 felony; possession of cocaine with enhancing circumstances, a level 5 felony; theft, a level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

On Jan. 14, Warsaw Police Department officer Brad Kellar responded to a theft at Ranger Material. He spoke with the business’s management, who said a previous employee, Brumfield, had stolen tools from the business and charged items at NAPA Auto Parts to Ranger Material’s account without permission.

Brumfield was fired on Jan. 14. His work truck was inventoried and tools valued at $1,288.10 were found missing. Ranger Material also advised there were items purchased and charged to them they could not find, court documents state.

On Jan. 26, officers obtained a search warrant for Brumfield’s residence on an unrelated incident. Inside the home, officers saw tools matching the descriptions provided by Ranger Material. They also found a digital scale, marijuana water bond and a glass smoking device with residue.

In a safe in the home officers found a notebook, determined to be a drug ledger. They found digital scales with marijuana and methamphetamine residue, a plastic bag containing marijuana, and another containing methamphetamine and a 9 mm handgun.

Officers arrested and searched Brumfield and found two plastic bags, one weighing less than a gram and containing methamphetamine and the other weighing less than a gram and containing cocaine.

On Jan. 29, WPD officer Ryan Moore spoke with Brumfield, who admitted to stealing tools from Ranger Material and that the tools found in the search warrant were stolen from the business. He also admitted to possessing methamphetamine, according to court documents.
