Kevin Owens left this earth after a valiant battle with cancer on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at the age of 62.

He was born in Warsaw on Sept 24, 1956. He graduated from Mentone High School.  He was loved by many and loved to make people laugh and smile.

He spent much of his life in Grand Rapids, Mich., and was finally able to fulfill his lifelong goal of moving to Tucson, Ariz. This is where he was able to drive around in his Mustang convertible, with the top down and wind in his hair.  Kevin liked to boast to all his Midwestern family and friends by how he was lying poolside sunbathing while they were freezing during winter.

He enjoyed going to the cinema frequently, especially to see a good action flick, as well as spending time with his best friend and companion, Cindy Calderon.

Kevin was a compassionate individual, always thinking of others first. He was an avid bicyclist and rode for charity to support the effort to combat childhood diabetes — even competing in a long, hot ride across the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah for the association.

He is survived by his mother, Sharlene Ross; sisters: Crystal (Vance) Hale, Angie (Mark) Dillon, Windy (Terry) McFarren, Balinda Vasquez, Debra (Ken) Pass, Lisa Owens and Shelly (Alexander) McMillan; brothers, Eric (Sharon) Ross and Cy (Michele) Ross; birth mother, Nancy Owens; and three half brothers: Deron (Leslie) Kosloski, Torre (Jusel) Owens and Dusty Owens.

He is also survived by his children: Greg (Gwen) Owens, Heidi (Carl) Melms, Nicole (Scott) Evans, Shaun Owens and Samantha (Patrick) Wilson; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Ross; his sister, Marcie Compson; and birth father, William Owens.

Kevin was a giver. In his final act of generosity, he donated his body to the Anatomical Education Program at IU School of Medicine for the study to further the fight and help find a cure for cancer.

His life will be celebrated from noon to 6 p.m. March 2 at 7167 W. Ind. 25, Mentone, IN 46539.
