Court documents filed July 9 list the charges against him as burglary, a level 4 felony; stalking, a level 6 felony; domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and two counts of criminal trespass, Class A misdemeanors.
On June 19, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputy Joel Popenfoose responded to a criminal trespass complaint. He spoke with the resident who said that on May 22, Warsaw Police officer Sam Weaver had given Castillo a trespass warning. She said that on June 19, she woke up to a noise in a girl’s bedroom and found Castillo inside. The girl’s identity was redacted in court documents.
Popenfoose spoke with the girl who said she saw Castillo outside the residence. She did not invite him in and he was not welcome at the home. The girl opened the door and Castillo wanted to go upstairs and talk with her. That’s when the resident found Castillo inside the home.
Officers verified WPD had issued a trespass warning to Castillo on May 22 for the home.
On June 22, county deputy Chris Rager responded to a battery at that home. He spoke with the girl who lives there.
She said that in the evening she was at home with some friends and was receiving text messages from her ex-boyfriend, Castillo. Around 3 a.m. June 22, Castillo entered the home without her permission.
The girl said she believed he crawled under the partially open garage door to gain entry into the home.
She began arguing with Castillo and he hit her in the eye and hit her about 10 times. The girl had a black eye, a report said.
The girl said Castillo does not have a vehicle and usually got around by taxi. Rager found Fast Cab Taxi had picked up a fair in the area where Castillo lives and took that fair to the girl’s address.
A no contact order was issued July 10.
