Woman hits man in head with bat

A Warsaw woman with four open court cases picked up another one for allegedly hitting a man in the head with a baseball bat.

Lisa Frances Keough, 50, of 123 E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 1:27 a.m. Dec. 4 and faces charges of battery while armed with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony; battery causing moderate bodily injury, a Level 5 felony; and resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Monday in Kosciusko Superior Court II, on Dec. 4 Warsaw police responded to a residence in reference to a battery that had just occurred there. Upon arrival, police spoke with a man outside who said he had been attempting to sneak his children out through a window when Keough hit him in the head with a baseball bat.

The man told police he and Keough had been arguing all day at the residence, so the man left. When he returned, court papers state, he brought along his sister to help him get his girlfriend and children out of the home so they could stay at his sister’s house.

“In an attempt to avoid a confrontation with Keough, (the man) went to a bedroom window and removed the air conditioner and began removing the children. Keough came in the room with a baseball bat, leaned out the window and struck (the man) in the head,” the probable cause affidavit states. The man’s sister grabbed the bat and threw it across the street, which was later recovered by police.

When police told Keough she was under arrest, she refused to follow commands and refused to walk to the patrol vehicle.

Her bond was set at $5,250.

Keough has pending charges in four other cases for theft, resisting law enforcement, and theft with a prior theft conviction; failure to register a transferred license plate; possession of methamphetamine and resisting law enforcement and possession of paraphernalia; and possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

Mom hurt, knife stolen, fence rammed

A 57-year-old woman is facing charges after allegedly battering her mother, stealing a knife, then ramming a vehicle through a fence.

Kathy Ann Buckheit, 57, of 314 N. Washington St., Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:58 p.m. Nov. 22 and faces charges of possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony; operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor; domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor; and criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday in Kosciusko Circuit Court, on Nov. 22 Warsaw police responded to a home in reference to a motor vehicle running through the backyard fence. Buckheit was the driver of the vehicle.

Police found the vehicle in the back yard, but no one was in it, court papers state, adding that an intoxicated female voice was heard beyond the vehicle that was threatening suicide. Central dispatch had informed officers that Buckheit was supposed to be armed with a knife she had taken from the kitchen of the house.

Buckheit was found and detained and unsteady on her feet, according to the police report. Buckheit told police she had used methamphetamine the day before, and police found a syringe in the vehicle that tested positive for meth.

When police spoke to the owner of the house, the woman said Buckheit is her daughter and they were arguing on the front porch earlier because Buckheit wanted to come in. When the woman refused to let Buckheit in, according to court papers, Buckheit shoved the door open against the woman’s arm causing pain and peeling the skin back on her arm, went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife then drove the vehicle through the fence in an attempt to commit suicide.

Buckheit’s bond was set at $10,500.

Ezekiel Dwayne Fitzpatrick, 25, of 316 S. Lake St., Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:02 p.m. Monday for resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, according to arresting papers.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday in Kosciusko Superior Court III, on Nov. 28 Warsaw police responded to a house in reference to a domestic dispute after a neighbor called 911.

Upon arrival, police spoke to a woman who said she and Fitzpatrick were having a verbal argument and she had left the residence to get away from him. The woman told police Fitzpatrick followed her out of the house, struck her mouth with an open hand, cutting her mouth, then placed his arm on her neck and attempted to bring her back into the house. The woman told police she could not breathe, court papers state.

The woman told police she is pregnant, that Fitzpatrick is the father and that he knows it.

The neighbor told police he called 911 because he heard yelling and witnessed the incident outside.
