WINONA LAKE – Grace’s women’s basketball team continued its hot start, defeating No. 21 Huntington 88-73 on Saturday.

The Lady Lancers’ top scoring threats put on a sizzling performance. Vironnica Drake and Kamryn Hostetler each topped 20 points with Kyannah Stull right behind at 19.

Hostetler kicked off the scoring for the Lady Lancers with a 3-pointer. The trend would continue as Grace was deadly from beyond the arc in the first half.

The first quarter was highlighted by a fast-paced style of play from both teams.

Stull buried two triples and Maddie Ryman added another, producing a seven-point lead for Grace.

The Foresters (10-2, 2-1 Crossroads League) played tough the rest of the quarter, but an and-1 from Brooke Treadway left Grace with a 25-20 lead after the first quarter.

Grace’s offense was quiet for the first several minutes before Stull converted a layup to get the Lady Lancers rolling.

With the score knotted at 33 and two minutes remaining in the half, Drake took over.

The senior guard single-handedly scored the next 11 points for Grace, including a buzzer beater from beyond the arc that sent the Lady Lancers into the locker room ahead 44-36.

Warble had seven boards in the first half.

Drake stayed hot in the third quarter, scoring five points in the first two minutes. The lead grew to 23 points as Stull hit two more triples in the third quarter.

Huntington cut the deficit to six points in the fourth quarter, but to no avail.

Hostetler drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to silence any potential rally by the Lady Foresters. Grace stayed aggressive to the finish, securing a 15-point victory.
