Warrior Boys Basketball Earns Victory At West Noble

LIGONIER – Wawasee led 19-8 after the first quarter, then saw its lead cut to three before going on to a 53-44 non-conference boys basketball win at West Noble Saturday night.

Austin Miller had a trio of three-point shots on his way to a game-high 26 points. Ethan Hardy had 13 points, Jaydon Boyer have five points, with Kameron Salazar, Jack Stover and Keaton Dukes adding three points each for the Warriors.

In the junior varsity game, Marten kent had 10 points, Adam Beer and Collin Roberson had six points each and Caden Welty five in Wawasee’s 35-28 win.

The Warriors (2-2) play at Whitko at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.



Cougars Down Marines

HAMILTON – Seth Martin had 28 points and Cameron Shepherd had 12 points for Lakeland Christian in its 62-47 win at Hamilton in boys basketball action Saturday.

Brayden Lane had eight points, Matthew Helton and Silas Gagnon had six points each, with Gagnon gathering a team-high six rebounds, and Landon Paris adding a bucket for the Cougars.

Lakeland Christian (2-2) plays at Triton at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.



Wildcats Fall At Bellmont

SOUTH WHITLEY – Drake Lewis had 20 points, including a 9-of-10 effort from the free throw line, for Whitko in its 76-67 loss to visiting Bellmont in a non-conference boys basketball game Saturday night.

Brett Sickafoose had 16 points, with William Rickard and Clayton Ebbinghouse adding 12 points for the Wildcats.

Whitko (1-1) hosts Wawasee at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.



LCA Girls Hoops Roll

HAMILTON – Lakeland Christian Academy didn’t allow a point to host Hamilton until the fourth quarter and easily rolled to a 57-4 girls basketball win Saturday afternoon.

Tori Calizo had 18 points, Finley Hobbs had 12 points and Jessi Calizo had 10 for the Cougars. Alexis Miller added seven, Jordan Gross scored four points and Natalie Norris, Liv Miller and Chloe Aites had two points each for the visitors.

LCA (3-7) will host Bethany Christian (3-4) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.



Lady Vikings Cruise

WABASH – Sidney Wagner had 19 points and Jillian Walls added 13 for visiting Tippecanoe Valley in its 4-25 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball win at Wabash Saturday.

Hayley Backus had nine points and Kaydence Mellott added eight for the Lady Vikings.

In the junior varsity contest, Molly Moriarty had 13 points, Rily Holloway added 11 and Lily Ault 10 points in an overtime win.

Valley (7-2, 2-0 TRC) plays at Triton Wednesday.



Lady Squires Fall

WABASH – Emma Garriott had 13 points for Manchester in its 38-33 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball loss at Northfield Saturday night.

Mackenzie Day had six points, Ainsley West points, Morgan Parrett and Ranissa Shambarger had three points each, with Kiera Hatfield and Makenzy Meyer scoring two points each.

The junior varsity contest went to Northfield, 29-18.

Manchester (1-8, 0-2 TRC) travels to Huntington North for a non-conference game Tuesday.



Valley 3rd At

Maconaquah Invite

BUNKER HILL – Tippecanoe Valley wrestling finished third in the Maconaquah Invitational Saturday, going 4-1 in dual matches.

The Vikings had wins over Lewis Cass (54 - 30), North Miami (63 - 18), Whitko (69 - 12) and Lapel (50 - 30). Their only loss came to the host Braves 36-34.

Wrestlers going undefeated for Valley were wrestlers were Johnny Gonsalez, Jacob Eherenman, Branson McBrier, Hunter Eherenman, Brandon Hammer, Drake Montelongo, and Hagaen Slusher.

Results for Whitko were not available as of press time.

Valley will host Manchester for a Three Rivers Conferrence meet Thursday. Whitko will compete in a quad meet at North Miami Tuesday.



Squires Go 3-2 In

Wabash County Meet

WABASH – Manchester wrestling won four matches at the Wabash County meet Saturday at Northfield.

The Squires got a 63-13 win over Southwood, a 60-15 victory over Blackford and a 59-24 triumph over South Bend Adams. They fell 46-22 to Wabash and 40-36 to host Northfield.

Dylan Stroud was a tourney champion at 138 pounds, winning all five of his matches. Ashton Moore won three matches to take the title at 195 pounds. Other records were:
