Story Of Pregnant Woman Is A Reminder Of Sin-Sick World

Back in the late 90’s I was working in the Toy Shop at The Salvation Army.  People were lined up for their appointments to choose gifts for their children in time for Christmas.  There was a commotion out in the waiting area so I went to see what was going on.

When I entered the room, I noticed a young woman seated there who was very “with child” and had a distressed look on her face.  She told me she was in labor but didn’t want to miss getting gifts for her family.

There were quite a few ahead of her so I looked at the others and said, “Would anyone object to her moving to the front of the line?”  All were wide eyed and shook their heads no. The volunteers escorted her into the room and she shopped in between contractions.

She headed to the hospital and promised to let us know when she delivered her child.  Later, we received news that a new little boy had entered the world! Mother and son have stopped by and visited me around the holidays over the years and we laugh and recall that day.  Mom has said she will never forget how she was treated by everyone with love and concern.

One baby changed the course of our day and holiday celebration that year.  That is the message of Christmas.

Isaiah prophesied years before a young couple ended up in Bethlehem that a virgin would give birth to a child and he would be called Immanuel…”God With Us.”

In this sin-sick and troubled world, our only Hope is in the one called Yeshua ... Jesus. He is the Savior of the World and the only way to be forgiven through His blood shed on the Cross.

Where is Jesus in your life?  Is He in some “waiting room” while other cares and concerns take precedent or have you allowed Him into your heart to be “born again” as you repent, turn from your sin and follow Him?

This holiday season put Jesus at the front of the line in your heart. Believe that God has raised Him from the dead and confess the work of Christ to others.  He will change the course of your life and truly make it a Merry Christmas!
