By Staff Report-

The Indiana Department of Transportation announced that Ind. 13 in Kosciusko County is expected to close on or after Tuesday, Sept. 3, weather permitting.

The closure, which will allow contractors to complete a bridge deck overlay and other bridge rehabilitation work, is scheduled to take place over the Tippecanoe River, between Backwater Road and East Esterbrook Drive. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained throughout the work.

The official state detour for the closure will be U.S. 6 to Ind. 15 to U.S. 30. The road may be closed up to 60 calendar days.

Work on the Ind. 13 bridge over the Tippecanoe River is expected to continue through late November, weather permitting. The contract was awarded to R.L. McCoy for $1.8 million and includes the rehabilitation of multiple structures in Kosciusko and Whitley counties.
