IHSAA Releases Sectional Assignments For Baseball, Softball

By Mark Howe-

INDIANAPOLIS – On Monday the IHSAA released baseball and softball sectional assignments for the next two school years.

In both sports, Warsaw will be in 4A Sectional 4 with Concord, Elkhart Central, Elkhart Memorial, Goshen and Northridge, with Penn joining the mix for baseball. In the spring of 2021, each field will be one team smaller after the Elkhart schools consolidate.

In baseball’s 3A Sectional 21, Tippecanoe Valley and Wawasee will be joined by Jimtown, Lakeland, North-Wood and West Noble.

Wawasee will play in the 5-team 3A softball Sectional 21 with Jimtown, Lakeland, NorthWood and West Noble.

Manchester, Tippecanoe Valley and  Whitko softball will play in 2A Sectional 37 with Lewis Cass and Three Rivers Conference teams Rochester and Wabash.

Baseball’s 2A Sectional 37 includes Manchester, Whitko, Carroll (Flora), Lewis Cass, Rochester and Wabash. A baseball sectional has been hosted in Wabash for many years now, but it’s not guaranteed that will be the case this spring.

Triton’s baseball and softball teams will be in 1A Sectional 50 with Argos, Culver Community, LaCrosse, South Bend Career Academy, South Central (Union Mills) and, for the baseball sectional, Oregon-Davis.

The realignment committee was chaired by IHSAA assistant commissioners Robert Faulkens and Kerrie Schludecker.

Tournament host sites in all spring sports will be announced in February.
