Lady Squires Roll To Shutout Win In TRC Opener

WABASH – Manchester scored three goals in the first half and four more after intermission to take a 7-0  girls soccer win over host Wabash in the Lady Squires; Three Rivers Conference opener Thursday night.

Kayla Metzger Beletu Stout and Gabby Brewer each had first-half goals. Gabbie Brewer, Stout, Bailey Mooney and Erica Ortiz all scored in the second half.

Manchester (1-1, 1-0 TC) travels to Syracuse at 6 p.m. Tuesday to take on Wawasee in a non-conference match.



Manchester Gets  Win Over Triton

NORTH MANCHESTER – Samantha Kissell’s 44 was good for medalist honors and led Manchester to a 216-267 win over Triton in non-conference girls golf at Sycamore Golf Club Thursday.

Fort Wayne Canterbury was represented by one player.

Other scores for the Lady Squires were Alissa Bickerstaff, 55; Kayla Hippensteel, 57; Delani Hen-derson, 60; and Chaynee Tennant, 64.

Triton’s scores were Maddie Ritchison, 62; Haley Rensberger, 66; Lilly Hubert, 68; and Haley Hooley, 71.

Manchester will play in the Rochester Invitational Saturday, while Triton will compete in the Warsaw Invitational the same day.



Wawasee, Riley Draw

SYRACUSE – Chris Pena had a pair of goals, each off assists from Dylan Dewitt, and Brandon Tayagua scored a goal for Wawasee off an assist by Gage George in the Warriors’ 3-3 draw with visiting South Bend Riley in a non-conference boys soccer match at Warrior Field Thursday evening.

Wawasee (0-1-1) opens Northern Lakes Conference play Monday at Concord. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m.



Warrior Girls Golf Picks Up 2 Wins

SYRACUSE – Tate Cowan posted a 43 and Belle Brunner had a 44 to lead Wawasee to a pair of non-conference golf wins Thursday at Maxwelton Golf Club. The Warriors’ team score of 187 bested Mishawaka Marian at 139 and Westview at 238.

Ava Harker had a 48 with Valerie Haessig and Taylor Cripe both at 52 for Wawasee.

The Warriors will next play at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Rochester Invitational at Round Barn Golf Club.



Trojans Sweep O-D

BOURBON – Triton opened the home portion of its volleyball schedule with a 25-22, 25-21, 25-21 win over Oregon-Davis in non-conference play Thursday night.

Lexia Hostrawser had eight kills, five aces and two blocks in the winning effort. Abbey Viers had 13 kills, Emma hepler 17 assists, with Molly McFarland and Jaela Faulkner adding 18 and 16 digs, respectively.

Triton will continue non-conference play Monday at Rochester.



Wabash Girls Golf Beats Tigers, Vikings

ROCHESTER – Wabash won a three-way, non-conference girls golf match Thursday with a score of 188 to Warsaw’s 189 and host Tippecanoe Valley’s 194 at Round Barn Golf Club in Rochester.

The Tigers were led by Marie Frazzetta and Sydney Lancaster; each shot a 46. Delaney Byron had a 48, Grayson Kilburn a 49 and Brooklyn Fitzgerald a 57.

Valley was paced by Madelyn Weaver’s 44 and Molly Moriarty at 47. Kaydence Mellott had a 51, Lily Ault had a 52 and Lydia Miller a 55 for the Vikings.

The Tigers will host the Warsaw Invitational at Stonehenge Golf Club  beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday. Valley will return to Round Barn Saturday for the Rochester Invitational.



Valley Bests ‘Jays

AKRON – Payton Mills pulled out a 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles to hand Tippcanoe Valley a 3-2 win over North Judson in a non-conference boys tennis match Thursday.

The Vikings also had a pair of wins at both doubles positions. Russell Paxton and Ethan Hartman defeated the Bluejays’ Payton Cox and Wyatt Showe 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Owen Kirchenstein and Annakin Pettit defeated Andrew Attinger and Kyle Burkett 7-5, 6-1.

Valley (1-1) will play in the Cass Invitational on Sat-urday.



Zebras Edge Trojans

BOURBON – Host Triton had wins at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles, but fell 3-2 to Rochester in a non-conference boys tennis match Thursday.

Connor Large beat the Zebras’ Kyle Reinartz 6-3, 6-2 in singles play. Cole McKinney and chandler Westafer won a very tight three-set match 7-6 (2), 5-7, 7-6 (6) over Brock Beeher and Kane Lutz.

Triton travels to Logans-port for a non-conference match Monday.



Warriors Drop NLC Tennis Opener

SYRACUSE – Wawasee dropped its Northern Lakes Conference boys tennis opener 5-0 to visiting Plymouth Thursday.

The Pilgrims also won the junior varsity match 3-1 iver the Warriors, with Jay Duncan winning a match for Wawasee.

Next up for the Warriors is a non-conference matchup with Central Noble at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Albion.



Vikes Blanked

AKRON – Host Tippe-canoe Valley’s co-ed soccer team fell 11-0 to 2A No. 17 NorthWood boys Thursday night.

Valley (0-1) will open Three Rivers Conference play Tuesday at Wabash.
