Trailing 1-0 at halftime, No. 10 (3A) and host Warsaw scored three unanswered goals in the second half to beat No. 11 (1A) Argos 3-1 Wednesday night.
Blake Burns got the equalizer in the first minute after intermission. Tedros Berelsman also scored off an assist by Ethan Grill.
The Tigers return to action tonight, traveling to South Bend to take on St. Joseph at 7 p.m.
Tigers Trip Huntington North
HUNTINGTON – Warsaw’s Marie Frazzetta posted a 44 over nine holes at Norwood Golf Club to lead the Tigers to a 189-208 win over host Huntington North in non-conference girls golf Wednesday.
Delaney Byron had a 46, Grayson Kilburn a 48, Sydney Lancaster a 51 and Brooklyn Fitzgerald 60 for Warsaw.
The Tigers will take a 5-0 record into today’s three-way match with Wabash and host Tippecanoe Valley at Round Barn Golf Club in Rochester.
Warsaw Tennis Wins Over Vikings
HUNTINGTON – Warsaw got wins at No. 3 singles and both doubles positions to earn a 3-2 boys tennis win over host Huntington North in a non-conference match Wednesday.
Winners for Warsaw were Matthew Weill in singles, Zachary Nicholas and Tristan Anderson at No. 1 doubles, and Michael Ray and Wil boren at the second doubles spot.
The Tigers got junior varsity wins from Nick Boren and Jack Reed in singles play, and doubles teams Garrett Rogers and Carter Schuh as well as Cole Rhoads and Riley Dugger.
Next up is a non-conference match with visiting Penn at 5 p.m. today.
Trojans Open Season With HNAC Win
BOURBON – Triton opened its boys tennis season Wednesday with a 5-0 Hoosier North Athletic Conference win over visiting Knox.
At No. 1 singles, John Gardner defeated Devon Himes 6-1, 6-2. Connor Large earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Ethan Sanders (K) at No. 2 singles and Gavin Greer took a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Gabe Manning.
In doubles play, Jared Bules and Tyler Heckaman lost just one game in their win over Brock Taulbee and Josh Flecther from the No. 1 position. Cole McKinney and Chandler Westafer cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Carter Fornelli and Colin Bottorff.
The Trojans also took two of three junior varsity matches.
Triton is right back at it today, hosting Rochester in a non-conference match at 4:30 p.m.
Warrior Tennis Starts Season Victorious
LAGRANGE – Wawasee sewpt its way to a 5-0 season-opening win over host Lakeland High School in a non-conference boys tennis match Wednesday.
Zach Leedy dropped just three games in winning at No. 1 singles, and Holden Babb needed three sets to beat the Lakers’ Luke Franke at No. 2 singles. Jack Gibbon won a tight first set on his way to a 7-5, 6-1 win over Blake Stourdirant at the No. 3 singles spot.
Grant Brooks and Blaine Baut mirrored Colin Rhoades and Zeke Keim at No. 1 and 2 doubles, respectively, with each duo winning 6-2, 6-1.
Wawasee’s Devon Kuhn and Taylor Fidieke each won 8-0 in the only junior varsity singles matches contested.
The Warriors open Northern Lakes Conference play today, hosting Plymouth at 5:30 p.m.
Wildcats Fall In TRC Golf
PERU – The Whitko Lady Wildcats golf team fell 183-219 to Maconaquah in a Three Rivers Conference match at Rock Hollow Golf Club Wednesday.
Gus Garr led the scoring for the Lady Wildcats by shooting a 49. Abby Arter, Erin Starkweather and Summer West contributed in the scoring for Whitko.
Ava Snyder of Maconaquah took medalist honors with a 41.
Whitko will host Wabash and Northfield for a TRC match at Sycamore Golf Club Monday.
Wawasee Girls Soccer Falls To West Noble
SYRACUSE – Nadia Palacios scored Wawasee’s only goal in a 8-1 loss to visiting West Noble in a non-conference girls soccer match Wednesday.
The Warriors (0-2) travel to Emma to face Westview at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Lions Blank Tippecanoe Valley
BREMEN – The Tippecanoe Valley boys tennis team fell 5-0 to host Bremen in a non-conference match Wednesday.
All three junior varsity matches were won by Bremen.
The Vikings will host North Judson in a non-conference match at 5:15 p.m. today.
Maconaquah Blanks Wildcats
SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko fell 5-0 to Maconaquah in a Three Rivers Conference boys tennis match Wednesday.
Next up for the Wildcats is a non-conference road match against Whitley County rival Columbia City on Monday.
Pilgrims Sweep Viking Volleyball
PLYMOUTH – Tippecanoe Valley dropped a non-conference volleyball match 25-16, 25-10, 25-13 at Plymouth Wednesday night.
The junior varsity match also went the Pilgrims’ way, 25-16, 22-25, 15-8 over Valley.
The Vikings host West Noble today, with the JV match starting at 6 p.m.
