As a member of Scout Troop 715 for the past seven years, Alex Jordan’s 18th birthday was fast approaching. On his 18th birthday, he could no longer apply for the rank of Eagle Scout, but he needed an Eagle project. As luck would have it, and Alex living in Silver Lake, the town’s street superintendent, James Prater, said their Memorial Park gazebo needed staining on the inside. So with three Scouts from troop 715 and two from Burket Troop 782, plus two adults, the group stained the inside from top to bottom, touched up the outside and weeded the flower beds. For a finished touch, it was observed that their American flag had seen better days. Scoutmaster Dick McCleary ordered a new one that was sun and rain resistant. Three days later, the new flag was donated to Prater for the park. Pictured (L to R) are, front row: Julian Moore, Gabe Anderson, Jeffrey Naundorf-Mller, Andrew Frush; back row: Ashton Irwin, Alex Jordan and Don Irwin.
