Wawasee Gets Girls Golf Win Over West Noble
SYRACUSE – Belle Brunner’s 39 led Wawasee to a 181-229 non-conference girls soccer win over visiting West Noble at Maxwelton Golf Club Monday night.
Tate Cowan and Jadison Rostochak each posted 9-hole scores of 45, and Valerie Haessig and Taylor Cripe had matching scores of 52.
“Another good round for Belle,” said Wawasee head coach Steve Coverstone. “She’s worked hard and it’s paying off. Jadison and Tate also played well.
Wawasee, unbeaten in five dual matches this season, hosts Westview and Mishawaka Marian at Maxwelton Thursday.
Vikings Get Girls Golf Wins Over Pilgrims, Lions
PLYMOUTH – Tippecanoe Valley earned a pair of wins in non-conference girls golf Monday with a 9-hole score of 212. Host Plymouth turned in a 219 and Bremen had a 229. LaVille had participants but not enough to field a team.
Kaydence Mellott and Madelyn Weaver each shot 52, followed closely by Molly Moriarty with a 53 and Lydia Miller with a 55. Other Viking scores were Lily Ault, 57; Cheney Canada, 60; and Hestina Kim, 65.
Valley will host Warsaw and Wabash at 5 p.m. Thursday at Rochester’s Round Barn Golf Club.
Lady Squire Soccer Drops Opener To Columbia City
NORTH MANCHESTER – Visiting Columbia City scored a pair of first-half goals on its way to a 2-0 non-conference girls soccer win at Manchester Monday night.
Lady Squire goalie Kindra Stetzel was had 18 saves for the night.
Manchester (0-1) will play again on Wednesday at home against Mississinewa.
Lakers Roll Past Warriors
LAGRANGE – Wawasee’s Nadia Palacios scored off an assist from Allie Haberman, but it was the only goal for the Warriors in an 11-1 loss to host Lakeland in a non-conference girls soccer match Monday.
Wawasee will host West Noble in a non-conference match Wednesday.
Trojans Swept In VB Opener
WALKERTON – Alyxa Viers had seven kills, and Abby Viers added six more for Triton, but the Trojans fell 25-13, 25-21, 25-20 at John Glenn in its season-opening volleyball match Monday.
Dylanie Miller had 12 assists, and Emma Hepler added eight assists for Triton. Molly McFarland had 23 digs, and Jaela Faulkner had 14 digs and three aces.
The junior varsity match also went to John Glenn 25-19, 25-18.
Triton will hit the road again Wednesday, going to Mishawaka High School for another non-conference match.
