Janice Ann Hughes, age 74, passed away on Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, at 12:25 a.m. in her residence.

She was born on Dec. 27, 1944, to Max and Frances Claybaugh Brown in Fort Wayne, Ind.   She was united in marriage on Oct. 25, 1986, to Richard Hughes in Las Vegas, Nev.

Janice graduated from Warsaw Community High in 1963. She was a member of the PSI IOTA XI sorority and graduated from Indiana University with an associate degree in business with a concentration in marketing. She retired in 1987 from United Telephone Company as an engineer. Janice enjoyed going to auctions and the casinos. She loved to travel which included trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Las Vegas, the Bahamas and Aruba.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Richard Hughes; son, Stephen K. (spouse Jim) Bumbaugh, of Negaunee, Mich.; two nieces, Kylee Coughenour, of Akron, Ind.; Keri Williams, of Montague, Mich.; and nephew, Michael Karst, of Fairlawn, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Tim Brown; and sister, Pamela Karst.

A visitation is scheduled on Monday, Aug. 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Pastor Ryan Petgen will officiate the service and interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
