Wawasee Goes Low, Wins 4-Way Golf Match

SYRACUSE – Despite cool, cloudy conditions that eventually led to rain, Wawasee’s boys golf team put together its best score of the year to win a four-way match at South Shore Golf Club Thursday. The Warriors posted a 161 to Manchester’s 164, South Bend Riley’s 181 and Whitko’s 185.

Dillon Drake, Evan Dippon and Victor Tayagua each shot 40 for Wawasee, with Zach Leedy a shot behind the trio and Caden Welty checking on with a 46.

Manchester’s Harley Krushwitz was the medalist with a 36, followed by Owen Kruschwitz at 38. Konrad Bergmann and Klayton?hendrix each shot a 45, and Mathias McLaughlin had a 50 for the Squires.

Whitko’s Kyler Bryant had a 42, Jonathan Strayer a 44, Cade Bechtold a 48, Storm Baldridge a 51 and Ezra Small a 66.

All three teams are scheduled to return to South Shore for the Wawasee Invitational Saturday.



Rain Suspends Triton

BOURBON – Triton was leading all five of the girls tennis matches with visiting LaVille when rain started Thursday and forced the suspension of the Hoosier North Athletic Conference competition.

It is the second time this season rain has forced the Trojans off the court mid-match. A non-conference match with Tippecanoe Valley was finished off Monday.

A date to resume play had not been set as of press time.



Games Called Off

Due to wet grounds, Triton’s softball game at Manchester was cancelled. It’s the second time the game was called off, and it wasn’t clear if the game would be rescheduled.

Manchester’s girls tennis match with Carroll was called off, with no make-up date announced.

Tippecanoe Valley’s Three Rivers Conference girls tennis match was postponed until today.

Whitko’s junior varsity baseball game with West Noble was postponed, with a make-up date being discussed.

Tippecanoe Valley’s JV baseball game at Pioneer Thursday was cancelled, and Friday’s game with visiting Whitko has been postponed until 5 p.m. May 13.

Valley’s JV softball game against Oak Hill for today has been cancelled.
