I wanted to reach out to your readers to advocate for my friend and colleague, Mayor Joe Thallemer.

I want to assure you that Joe did not ask me to write this, but rather I feel compelled because I have a special connection to your community. From 2016 through 2018, my wife had the privilege to serve on staff at Warsaw Church of God. We grew to love our church family – and the people of Warsaw – until we were called back to plant a church in our community of Columbia City.

I also have a special connection to Mayor Joe. He and I were both elected for the first time in 2011, ready to lead our respective communities into the future. He’s a good leader for the city of Warsaw, and an overall good man. He’s focused on engaging residents to attract and retain talent to the area. This, in turn, fills job vacancies, homes and community events. I recognize that in the heat of a political campaign, things can seem worse than they are. Yet it’s easy to look around Warsaw and see what improvements have been made under Mayor Joe’s leadership. The numbers don’t lie. Warsaw has had population growth, economic expansion and improving quality of life under Mayor Joe Thallemer.

He’s also a great leader in Northern Indiana. I’ve served under his leadership on the US 30 Coalition and he is consistently pointing us back to the question, “What do our citizens want?” When INDOT wanted to put in J-Turns in Warsaw, Mayor Joe lead the charge to focus on a long-term fix, rather than the “band-aid approach.” I’ve seen him advocate for the citizens of Warsaw to state leaders and legislators. I’ve watched him speak with pride of his city to his peer mayors around the state. Make no mistake, Joe’s first and foremost concern is for the citizens and the future of Warsaw.

I know the words of someone who doesn’t live in Warsaw may not carry much weight. However, I wanted to ensure you that northern Indiana – including your neighbors to the east – have benefitted from Mayor Joe’s leadership. I want to make sure your readers understand what an asset they have in Mayor Joe and I strongly encourage them to support Mayor Joe Thallemer in the May primary election.
