Triton Golf Earns A Win Over Warsaw At Rozella Ford
A close boys golf match bet-ween Warsaw and Triton ended in favor of the Trojans Monday night by a score of 163-165.
Triton’s Cole McKinney and Warsaw’s Seth Hildebrand went neck and neck the entire way, tying with scores of 38. Cal Hoskins and Chase Byron also helped the Tigers, with each posting a 41 on the day. Zach LaLonde, Ben Brander, and Jack Yeager also competed for Warsaw.
Keegan Westhafer and Beau Hepler also posted 41s for the Trojans. Carter Kuntz, Chase Butler, and John Gardner rounded out the Triton group.
Triton also won the JV matchup by a score of 186-193. Warsaw Sophomore Tucker Carlile led the JV?field with a solid 42, while Lewis Turley finished with a 45. Triton’s Brock Watkins, Bruce Johnson, and Gavin Butler finished under 50 for the Trojans.
Warsaw will look to rebound Wednesday, when they host Carroll at Rozella Ford Golf Course. Triton will host Fort Wayne Canterbury and Goshen at Swan Lake Golf Club on Friday.
Vikings Edge Southwood
AKRON – Ethan Yates’ walk-off single, his second hit of the game, gave Tippecanoe Valley a 9-8 win over visiting Southwood in a Three Rivers Conference baseball game Monday night.
Wes Melanson singled, homered, scored twice and drove in three runs in the winning cause. Tucker Shull had a hit and scored twice, and Tanner Trippiedi scored a pair of runs after a single and a walk.
The Vikings will host Culver Academies in a non-conference game tonight.
Single Runs In Last Three Innings Beat Wawasee
SYRACUSE – Northridge scored single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to take a 4-2 come-from-behind win at Wawasee in Northern Lakes Conference baseball Monday.
Raider pitching held the host Warriors to two hits. Senior Kameron Salazar tripled, with Wawasee’s Parker Young and Grant Brooks driving in a run each.
Wawasee is right back at it today, hosting Mishawaka for a non-conference game.
Warrior Softball Falls To Northridge 10-0
MIDDLEBURY – Wawasee Softball had their five-game win streak broken Monday against Northridge. The Raiders posted 17 hits and allowed only three in the 10-0 NLC?win.
Northridge pitcher Jenifer Robinson posted a complete-game shutout. The Raiders’ ace also had three strikeouts and allowed only three hits in five innings. Kiaundra Olsen took the loss for Wawasee.
The Raiders’ offense was dominant against the overmatched Warriors. Amber Bost, Meghan Bontrager, and Makena Knepp all recorded doubles for their squad. Rachael Kelley led the game with three RBIs. While Wawasee’s offense had trouble most of the evening, Olsen provided some hope with a double. Graceanne Kerlin and Abigayle Smith also reached base for the Warriors.
Wawasee’s JV softball team struggled on both sides of the field Monday in an 11-2 defeat at Middlebury. Laney Gross and Katy Flannery recorded doubles in the game, leading the team at the plate.
Wawasee (7-5) will look to rebound Wednesday at home against Plymouth in another NLC matchup.
Wawasee Golf Edged By Fairfield 183-184
SYRACUSE – Wawasee’s men’s golf team suffered a close defeat at the hands of Fairfield Monday by a score of 183-184. West Noble also participated, posting a score of 187.
Caden Welty led the way for the Warriors, posting a 44. Zach Leedy, Evan Dippon, and Tyler Bustich also posted sub-50 scores for Wawasee, who dropped to 3-2 with the defeat.
Fairfield’s Cody Moush led with a 41 on the day, tying him with West Noble’s Brayden Bohde for the top score.
Donovon Edwards, Connor Carpenter, Skylar Miller, and Tanner Nouremaker helped the Falcons secure the win.
The Warriors’ (3-2) next match is Thursday, when they host Manchester, Whitko, and South Bend Riley at South Shore Golf Course.
Triton Bested By LaVille In Offensive Showcase
BOURBON – In a game featuring two powerful offenses, Triton softball lost to LaVille by a final score of 21-8. The Lancers recorded 21 runs on only seven hits.
Triton nearly made the comeback but couldn’t close the game. After shrinking an early defecit to just 10-8, ten LaVille batters walked in the top of the fifth to build the commanding 21-8 lead. Freshman pitcher Erin Ogle was relieved in the inning by Madeline Doll, who was able to stop the bleeding after five more runs scored.
Both offenses put on a show in the contest, combining for fourteen hits. Skyla Wilson led the Trojans in batting, scoring two runs on three at bats. Alyxa and Abby Viers also recorded RBIs for Triton. Hannah Filley led the Lancers with four runs, with Brianna Sauer and Sydney Coblentz recording three. Sauer also finished with three RBIs.
The?Trojans (3-8, 0-3) will take on North Miami on Tuesday at home.
Warsaw Baseball Falls To NorthWood 10-2
NAPPANEE – After giving up an early lead, Warsaw baseball fell to NorthWood 10-2. NorthWood has now won six in a row after starting 1-2.
Tigers’ pitcher Drake Graham took the loss despite posting five strikeouts in four innings. Warsaw also got help from Matt Shoemaker, Noah Burgh, Liam Patton, Ian Glogovsky, and Jacob Hutcherson, who posted hits in the defeat.
Northwood got off to an early start offensively and never looked back. The Panthers led 5-0 after the first inning, thanks largely to a Matt Dutkowski double in the first. Trey Allman, Alex Holcomb, and Josh Stratford posted multiple RBIs for the victors. Holcomb also commanded the mound for six innings, posting twelve strikeouts and allowing only two runs on four hits.
After showing signs of life early, Warsaw’s JV squad was unable to top NorthWood in an 8-4 loss Monday. Aaron Greene, Lukas Maier, and Drew Yeager recorded RBIs in the Tigers’ fourth inning.
Warsaw (3-7, 0-4) will look to snap out of a six game losing streak Wednesday at Northridge.
Squires Fall To N. Miami
NORTH MANCHESTER – North Miami scored six runs in the first two innings, then invoked the run rule with seven tallies in the fifth and sixth frames to beat Manchester 13-1 in a Three Rivers Conference softball game Monday.
Emma West had two of Manchester’s six hits, and scored the Squires’ lone run.
Manchester travels to South Whitley to take on Whitko Wednesday.
Wildcats Fall To Eagles
COLUMBIA CITY – Katherine Ousley won at No. 3 singles for Whitko in its 4-1 girls tennis non-conference loss to host Columbia City Monday.
The Wildcats return to conference play, taking on host Maconaquah in a rescheduled match that was rained out earlier this month.
Warsaw Edged By NorthWood
NAPPANEE- Lili Lomeli was the hero for NorthWood as her seventh inning single sealed a 6-5 win over Warsaw. Warsaw held a 5-4 lead entering the inning.
While Lomeli’s hit won the game, NorthWood’s other batters came in the clutch as well. Sydney King’s fourth inning home run tied the game at four, giving her two RBIs on the night. Morgan Jenkins also recorded multiple runs for the Panthers.
Gracie Clark and Madison Miller stymied the Warsaw offense, combining for fourteen strikeouts in seven innings. Miller earned the win.
Pitcher Courtney Chookie kept the Tigers in the game for all seven innings. Chookie finished with three strikeouts while allowing six runs on nine hits. Madison Lane stole home on a wild pitch in the sixth, giving the Tigers a 5-4 lead. Avery Sleeth, Isabelle Ditmar, and Chookie all finished with RBIs on the afternoon.
Things looked brighter for Warsaw in the JV game, where they handled the Panthers 16-3. Tori Tackett earned the win at the mound while also recording three hits. Sydney Mckeand and Karlie German each had four hits, leading the game. Calleen Eberly’s catch-and-throw double play in right field was an exciting moment.
Warsaw (4-6, 2-2) will take on Northridge Wednesday at home.
Valley Softball Defeated By Southwood
WABASH- Southwood softball defeated Tippecanoe Valley behind an eight run third inning Monday night, posting a final of 14-4. The Vikings have now lost four of their last five.
Mayde Fear took the loss for Tippecanoe Valley, with Macy Kirchenstein aiding as a relief pitcher.
The Vikings were able to score some runs for pride. Kirsten Prater’s third inning homer tied the game at four apiece, and Alex Gomez added a solo shot the next inning. Sydney Howard, Kirstyn Yoder, Amy Baca, and Brayden Baney reached base for Tippy Valley.
The Vikings (3-6, 0-2) will look to regain their composure Tuesday at Pioneer High School.
Valley Finishes Off Win In Suspended Match At Triton
BOURBON – Tippecanoe Valley won the two girls tennis matches suspended April 10 with host Triton, completing a 3-2 win in non-conference play Monday.
At No. 2 singles, the Vikings’ Hannah Parson won 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 over Triton’s Maddie Ritchison. Valley’s Tiphanie Hodge and Makenna Bradley came back from a set down to win 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 over Trojans Emma Hepler and Lexia Hostrawser at No. 1 doubles.
Back on the 10th, Triton’s Molly McFarlane won at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-0 over Valley’s Mackinzie Costello, and Ivy Powell of Triton won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles over Valley’s Gigi Engstrong.
At No. 2 doubles, Haley Baker and Kaitlin Neese of Tippecanoe Valley won 6-1, 6-2 over Triton’s Haley Hoover and Madison Davis.
Next up for the Vikings is a Three Rivers Conference match at Peru today. Triton travels to North Judson for a Hoosier North Athletic Conference match Wednesday.
Whitko Softball Wins Again
WABASH – Ellie snep struck out six Northfield hitters to lead Whitko to a 8-2 Three Rivers Conference softball win Monday.
Emalee Duggins had two singles, Shi Bradley had a double and two singles, Sarah Hewitt doubled, Harley Bradley singled twice and Kayce Sims had two singles and a double.
The Wildcats play at Huntington North today.
Tigers Blanked By No. 4 Carroll
Warsaw's girls tennis team fell 5-0 to fourth-ranked Carroll Monday night.
The Tiger junior varsity won seven of 13 matches. Winners included Izzy Ray, Gracie Lewis, Anastasia Kailkova uin singles, and doubles teams Mikayla Roller & Annie Burnet, Katrielle Rodgers & Audrey Turley, Jaya Panicker & Kat Josellis and Peri Britton & Regan Brouwer,
Warsaw will take on Northern Lakes Conference for Elkhart Memorial today.
