Tiger Track Takes Wins Over Wawasee, Northridge

Warsaw’s boys track team earned a pair of Northern Lakes Conference wins Thursday evening, beating Wawasee 109-23 and Northridge 76-56 at Fisher Field.

Northridge earned a 96-35 win over Wawasee.

Sam Lechlitner was a double winner for the Tigers, taking the 1,600 and 3,200 runs. Other winners were Eli Owen in the 110 hurdles, Isaac Mitchell in the 400, Alijah Wade in the 200, Tyler Metzger in the high jump and Hunter Metzger in the pole vault.

Wawasee’s winners were Luke Griner in the 800 and Isaiah Tipping in the shot put.

The Warriors will compete in the Goshen Relays on Saturday. The Tigers travel to Indianapolis to participate in the Southport Relays on Saturday.



Warsaw Falls To Homestead

FORT WAYNE – The Warsaw boys golf team traveled to Chestnut Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, and with constant rain and an already soaked course, dropped their varsity match 160-172.

The Tigers were led by Cal Hoskins with a 41, followed closely by Zach LaLonde and Ben Brander with a pair of 42’s. In the six-man score format, the other three Tigers Chase Byron, Jack Yeager and Tucker Carlile all fired 47’s.

Medalist for the match was Homestead’s Klayton Davis with a 39.

The junior varsity pulled off a victory with a close competition of 189-190 over Homestead. Warsaw was led by Will Hall with a 45, followed closely by Lewis Turley’s 46 and Seth Hildebrand’s 48. Mason Whitaker, Jeremy Ryman and Bryce Welk rounded out the squad.

The varsity next competes Saturday in the Lake Central Invite at Sandy Pines Golf Course. The JV heads to the Plymouth invite next on Saturday.



Several Area Rainouts

Most high school sporting events in the Times-Union coverage area sports schedule was rained out Thursday. The following is a list of the events not contested Thursday as well as other schedule changes not necessarily related to the weather, with any possible make-up date.

Manchester

• Softball with visiting Triton moved to April 25. The junior varsity game will not be made up.

• Girls tennis with visiting Wawasee was cancelled, and will not be made up.

• JV?baseball at Northfield moved to Monday.

Tippecanoe Valley

• Girls tennis with visiting Whitko was postponed until 5 p.m. May 2.

• Baseball vs. South Bend Adams cancelled.

• JV Baseball at Peru, cancelled due to scheduling conflict earlier this week.

Triton

• Softball at Manchester was moved to April 25. The junior varsity game will not be made up.

Wawasee

• JV Baseball against Fairfield May 14 has been cancelled, and will not be rescheduled, so the Falcons can make up a game within its conference.

• JV softball at NorthWood for today has been cancelled, and will not be rescheduled, because the Warriors will not have enough players.

• Girls tennis at Manchester was cancelled, and will not be made up.

Warsaw

• Girls tennis at Fairfield, cancelled.

Whitko

• Girls tennis at Tippecanoe Valley was postponed until 5 p.m. May 2.

• Baseball vs. New Haven, no makeup date mentioned.
