Brooks’ Walk-Off Single Gives Wawasee 15-14 Win Over Warsaw

In seven innings of play, the only half inning where neither team scored was the top of the fifth. Wawasee scored four runs in both the sixth and seventh innings in their comeback.
Levi Brown homered as part of his 3-for-3 effort for the Warriors. He was one of five Wawasee players with multiple hits; Brooks, Kam Salazar, Parker Young and Logan Adkins were the others.
Liam Patton homered for Warsaw, and Matt Shoemaker had three hits for the Tigers, who collected 15 hits to Wawasee’s 14. Noah Burgh, Ian Glogosky, Jacob Hutchinson and Patton had two hits each for Warsaw.
Brooks was the winning pitcher for Wawasee, while Burgh took the loss on the mound.
Wawasee won a wild junior varsity game, 10-9 over the Tigers. Jacob Meek had three hits and drove in a pair of runs, and Gavin Wilson had two hits and a pair of RBI’s including he game-winner for Wawasee.
Wawasee will take on Whitko at Parkview Field in Fort Wayne at 7 p.m. today. Warsaw will host Goshen in NLC play at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Wawasee Tennis Stays Unbeaten, Blanks C. Noble
SYRACUSE – Wawasee’s three singles players lost three games in six sets between them, propelling the Warriors to a 5-0 win over visiting Central Noble in a non-conference girls tennis match.
Elizabeth Kleopfer rolled to a straight-set win at No. 3 singles without dropping a game to Central noble’s Racheal Imhof. Kendra Doerr won 6-1, 6-0 over Alyson Robinson at No. 1 singles, and Peyton Rookstool tripped Macy Griffis 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
The doubles teams were nearly as dominant, with Kaitlin Graber and Molly Jones at No. 1 and Abby Morehead and Tate Cowan at No. 2 winning all four of their sets by identical 6-1 scores.
The Junior varsity won all six of its matches. Valerie Haessig, Kaitlynn Jackson, Kelsey Harper and Katelyn Vetor won singles matches. Doubles teams were Ava Harker & Becca Smith, and Casey Yankosky & Jada Carter.
The Warriors take a perfect 6-0 record into their second Northern Lakes Conference match of the season today against visiting Concord.
Trojan Linksters Win Tiebreaker Over Wawasee
LEESBURG – Triton used a tiebreaker to beat Wawasee in a non-conference boys golf match Monday at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club. The teams each shot 170, and were joined by Bethany Christian, who posted a score of 205.
Triton’s fifth player, John Gardner, shot a 44 to Caden Welty’s 51 for Wawasee to give the Trojans the win.
Scores were consistent for Triton, with Beau Hepler shooting a 41 and Cole McKinney, Chase Butler and Keegan Westhafer each checking in at 43.
Wawasee’s Zach Leedy was the medalist with a 39, followed by Dillon Drake and Evan Dippon each with a 43. Tyler Bosskirk had a 45 for the Warriors.
Triton and John Glenn will play a three-way match at Mishawaka Wednesday. Wawasee will host Central Noble at South Shore today.
Wildcats Roll Past N. Miami
NORTH MANCHESTER – Whitko downed North Miami 191-223 in a Three Rivers Conference boys golf match at Sycamore Golf Club Monday.
Cade Bechtold led the Wildcats with a 42, followed by Kylar Bryant’s 44. Dale Reiff posted a 47, Jonathan Strayer had a 58 and Storm Baldridge a 67 for Whitko.
On the junior varsity level, Ezra Small shot a 62 for Whitko.
Next up for Whitko is its invitational tournament Saturday at Sycamore.
Triton Edges Zebras
ROCHESTER – The No. 1 doubles team of Lexia Hostrawser and Emma Hepler won a three-set match for Triton, sending the Trojans to a 3-2 win over host Rochester in a non-conference girls tennis match Monday night.
It was the first win for Triton this season in four tries.
Hostrawser and Hepler split the first two sets with Zebras Whitley Barkman and Molly Conley, each winning by a 6-4 count. The Trojan duo won the third set 6-2 to secure the team win.
Other winners were Molly McFarland, who won by injurty default over Rochester’s Grace drake, and Ivy Powell came back from a set down at No. 3 singles to beat Gabby Gross 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Lily Hubert was a winner for Triton in the junior varsity matches.
Triton will ttravel to Lakeville Wednesday to take on Hoosier North Athletic Conference foe LaVille.
Knox Rolls Early In HNAC Victory Over Triton
KNOX – Not wasting any time, Knox scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning and rolled from there to a 18-1, five inning win over visiting Triton in a Hoosier North Athletic Conference softball game Monday.
The Trojans travel to Royal Center to take on Pioneer in a conference game today.
Three Games Postponed Due To Wet Grounds
Two baseball games and a softball contest were postponed from Monday due to wet grounds from Sunday’s mixed precipitation.
Whitko’s baseball game at West Noble in Ligonier and softball game at Carroll in Huntertown were both called off. In both cases, a makeup date hadn’t been determined as of press time.
Manchester’s baseball game at Oak Hill was tentatively moved to 5 p.m. today in Converse.
