LARWILL?– Brandon Penrod was hired as Whitko School?Corporation’s superintendent during a special meeting Tuesday.

Penrod was hired as Warsaw Community School’s chief financial officer in May 2016. His career in education began in 2001 as athletic director of Prairie Heights High School and Garrett High School.





He also taught science at Indian Springs Middle School, was business manager and treasurer at Northern Wells Community Schools, assistant principal at Manchester Intermediate School and Manchester Junior Senior High School, and Freemont Community Schools business manager.

He graduated from Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne with a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in education administration. He received an education specialist degree and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Indiana University.

The new superintendent starts work at Whitko Oct. 1 with a $141,363 starting contract, which includes a yearly base salary of $113,000 and the following annual contributions: $2,260 to a 403B plan; $3,390 to the teacher retirement fund; $16,300 for health, dental and vision insurance premiums; $500 to long-term disability insurance; $260 for term life insurance premiums; $4,800 for automobile and gasoline allowance; and $863 to a 2018 health savings account.

The contract runs to June 2021 and could be extended five times in one-year increments.

Penrod said he looked forward to the great opportunity at Whitko and working with the board members, teachers and community members.

He and his wife Michelle are the parents of six sons: McCormick (wife Logan), Cal (wife Lara), McGerran, Connor, Quentin, and Zeke. They also have one granddaughter, Chandler.
