By Staff Report-

The Feed My Starving Children Warsaw MobilePack recognized Zimmer Biomet and SYM Financial for their contributions to the Warsaw MobilePack.

The FMSC MobilePack, a community service event, has over 50 community sponsors. Zimmer Biomet and SYM have contributed enough to reach the Hunger IMPACT level, collectively raising enough funds to feed over 850 children for a year, while team members from both companies continue to fundraise, according to a news release from the MobilePack.

In addition to corporate support and volunteering to pack meals, Zimmer Biomet team members have supported FMSC with a number of different fundraisers, including a wall of gratitude, a dunk tank fundraiser, and a pi day pie sale.

“I love to volunteer and financially support FMSC for the obvious reason of helping those that are less fortunate than me, but more importantly in my mind, is the fact that I can take my 7- and 9-year-old kids to the packing events to instill traits of unselfishness, volunteerism, humility and service,” said Nathan Sautter, associate director of Sports Medicine Product Management at Zimmer Biomet.

Elle Turley, sales and marketing coordinator for SYM Financial, said, “We choose to support Feed My Starving Children because it is near and dear to many of the hearts of SYM Financial. It also aligns with our core values. We work to serve not only our clients and colleagues with compassion but seek to make an impact any way we can in our communities as well. SYM Financial has a commitment to supporting causes in two main ways. First, it supports the missions to which its employees are committed. It then seeks to support organizations that are managed responsibly and executed in the best possible way to make the best possible difference. FMSC is one of those great organizations that many of us here at SYM are behind. We appreciate the community's involvement and the opportunity that we collectively are all given to impact lives both locally and globally.”

SYM Financial CEO Jerry Yeager said SYM’s support for the MobilePack allows them to make both a local and global impact. “We have been involved since the first pack in Warsaw and are truly inspired by the community-wide effort to provide nutritious meals to children worldwide. Additionally, we love the model of community volunteers of all ages rallying together to make a difference in the world.  We are humbled and grateful to live in such a generous community.”

Monica Kendrick, Zimmer Biomet’s vice president of corporate communications, said, “At Zimmer Biomet we partner with communities where we live and work, and support causes and programs that forward our mission for people in need. Team Members at our Warsaw-based world headquarters are proud to support the work of the Feed My Starving Children Warsaw MobilePack for the past several years.”

Megan Stone, Warsaw FMSC MobilePack chair, said that the MobilePack helps reflect the giving nature of many in the Warsaw community.

“We thank IMPACT sponsors SYM Financial and Zimmer Biomet for their leadership and commitment to this event. This event is made possible by the generous commitment of the many sponsors in our community who strive to make a positive difference within our community and beyond. They care about impacting world hunger and have a global perspective of what it means to ‘take care of your neighbor.’”

These corporate donations will also enable the Warsaw Community Schools students to participate in the packing experience. Stone said the impact of getting to help others extends beyond packing meals. “We are bringing mission work experience to them which is the ultimate field trip.  This also aligns with WCS mission statement of ‘enriching the lives of others.’ By providing this experience we are enhancing global awareness, building empathy and strengthening our own community,” she said.

Warsaw community members will fight world hunger through a partnership between the Warsaw Community and nonprofit FMSC. About 5,000 volunteers will make a difference by packing 1 million meals with their own two hands from Oct. 17-20.

Community members can support this MobilePack by making a donation to cover meal costs or by volunteering to package food at the event. Volunteer opportunities at packing sessions will be made available to sponsors in advance and all remaining registration spots to pack will open to the public in mid-September on a first come, first serve basis.
