Frances Slocum Chapter INDAR

WABASH — The Frances Slocum Chapter INDAR will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Grandstaff Hentgen Activity Room, 1241 Manchester Ave, Wabash.  

The program will be on the Constitution and the celebration of Constitution Week Sept. 17-23. Prospective members and guests are welcome to attend.

Daughters of the American Revolution membership is open to any woman 18 and older who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. Kosciusko Kettleheads Homebrew Club

The Kosciusko Kettleheads Homebrew Club will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mad Anthony's Lake City Taphouse, Warsaw.

Those interested in the fine art of fermentation are invited to attend, and all current, former or potential brewers are welcome. For further information call 574-265-4837, visit www.kettleheads.org or email [email protected].

The Kettleheads meet the second Sunday of every month. Next month’s meeting will be Oct. 14.



Altrusa Club

Altrusa Club members are excited that tickets for their annual service project, Bingo for Beaman Home, have sold out.

This year’s event is Oct. 18 at Wyndham Gardens Banquet Facility, 2517 E. Center St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The event is held in October as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  All proceeds will benefit the programs and service of the Beaman Home, which has served this community’s domestic violence victims and their dependent children for over 30 years.

Members of Altrusa International of Warsaw, who established the Beaman Home in 1985, coordinate this annual service project working with the Beaman Home Board and other community volunteers.  This is the ninth year for Bingo for Beaman Home and the fourth straight year that tickets have sold out prior to the event.



Warsaw Friends Of The Library

Fifteen Friends of the Library members and Warsaw Community Public Library liaison Robin Fosnaugh gathered Tuesday.

Merri Bottorff, president, presided over the meeting. Bree Robinson was recognized as the new secretary and thanked for her expertise. The group recorded 124.5 volunteer hours for August.

Fosnaugh provided Santa Day (Dec. 8) updates and needs from Children's Services. By a unanimous member vote, Friends will fully fund Santa Day and fill treat bags in November.

Fosnaugh mentioned the library's desire to honor FOL during National Friends of the Library week, Oct. 21-27. Members agreed snacks would be appreciated during book sale setup Oct. 24.

The meeting adjourned with the reminder that book sale volunteer sign-ups will be available at the Oct. 1 meeting. New 2019 book sale book marks were distributed.

The public is welcome to get involved with FOL and see how to help the library.



Four Seasons Ladies Bridge

WINONA LAKE — The Four Seasons Ladies Bridge Group met Wednesday at Grace Village.

Winners were Sondra Dicken, Beth Huffer, Peg Zimmerman and Sharon Holtz.

Maxine Harris was hostess.



Wednesday Night Bridge

The group had six tables this week, with the following winners: Bob Mayer, Rosalee Spear, Virginia Horn, Joyce Metz, Sharon Tuttle, Kathy Clary and Grant Magner.  

Janet and John Wagley were hostess and host.

Kosciusko County Retired Teachers

Retired educators are invited to share lunch and music with the Kosciusko County Retired Teachers on Tuesday at Miller’s Senior Living, 1634 S. County Farm Road Warsaw.

Fellowship starts at 11:30 a.m. with lunch ($5) at noon; door prizes will be awarded. A short business meeting will be followed by “Music by Martin Becker,” the program for the day. RSVP to [email protected].

Those who are not members are welcome to come and get acquainted or join for $10 a year.

The final meeting of the year will be Oct. 11.



Singles Meeting Friends

Even with the threat of severe thunderstorms Wednesday night, nine friends met upstairs at the deli at Martin’s Super Market.  

After visiting and catching up, everyone broke into two groups for some euchre. A few rotated to be sure all had a chance to play, and everyone won at least some games.  

The group was reminded of the 43rd annual Nappanee Apple Festival Sept. 13-16.  

One of Donna P's favorites, Quentin Flagg, is going to be at Lizards Bar & Grill in Milford from 8 to 10 p.m. Sept 21, performing ’50s and ’60s music.



Grace Thursday Bridge

Grace Thursday Bridge met this week with Joyce Latta as  hostess.

Winners were Rosalee Spear, Judy Seward, John Seward and Latta.
