During October, Leesburg kindergarten and first-graders were invited to the Plain Township Fire Station. The volunteer firefighters gave their time to teach students about fire safety. During the presentation, students learned about smoke detectors, the importance of a safe meeting place and what to do in the event of a fire. A fireman dressed in a full uniform showed students how a fireman looks and sounds so they would not be afraid. Students had the opportunity to try on two smaller fireman uniforms as well. Students explored the different fire trucks at the station and discovered how each truck has a different purpose. A favorite moment for students during the trip to the fire station was being able to ride back to school in a fire truck.
