I am writing this letter in support of Mike Coon’s candidacy for the Warsaw Community Schools Board, representing District 1. Mike’s value system, financial discipline and common-sense approach make him an ideal candidate to serve in this capacity. He believes in compensating teachers fairly, equitable opportunities for all and fair treatment within the framework of the rules.

I have had the honor and privilege of knowing Mike for the past eight years. Mike served on the Kosciusko Community YMCA Board of Directors from 2009-2014 in multiple leadership capacities.  In 2010, he was the chair of the committee that led a national CEO search process, from 2011-2012 Mike served as vice president of the board, and from 2013-2014 he served as president and chaired the governance committee. His leadership facilitated the development of a world-class YMCA Board of Directors and cast a bold vision for the future. That vision culminated in a $16 million philanthropic effort and construction of a new YMCA. He gave willingly of his time, talent and treasure, and I believe he will continue to do so as he walks the walk as a true servant leader for the Warsaw community.

Mike is the consummate volunteer. By definition all volunteers are caring and community-minded, but not all are genuine, empathetic, passionate, engaged, energetic and creative like Mike. Mike is an “A” player and will help lead the school district and shape the future of the Warsaw community. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
