USA Roller Sports, the U.S. Olympic Committee National Governing Body for all Roller Sports, has inducted Warsaw’s Trace Hansen into the Roller Skating Hall of Fame for his Distinguished Service to the sport.

Hansen, formerly of Mukilteo, WA, was a three-time member of Team USA, placing fifth in the Pairs event at the 2005 Worlds in Rome, and the 2006 Worlds in Murcia, Spain. Hansen and partner Kylee Berger also finished eighth at their first Worlds in California in 2004.

Since retiring from skating in 2007, Hansen resigned from the Everett (WA) Police Department to move to Warsaw and fulfill his dream of purchasing a roller skating rink, Eastlake Skating Center.

He since has added a rink in Elkhart and one in Easley, SC.

Hansen began his volunteer service to USA Roller Sports in 2008 when he was asked to apply for a position on the Board of Directors. Hansen was elected by his skating peers and has continued his service since then.

Hansen served as a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee Athlete Advisory Council from 2009-2012, has served as the USOC AAC Representative on the USA Roller Sports (USARS) board from 2009-2012, and has served as the Figure Athlete on the Board of Directors since 2012, all three terms being elected by his peers in the sport.

Hansen also began the Great Lakes International Skate Camp at his facility in 2014, bringing over top International coaching talent at his own expense.

"I am truly honored, and humbled, to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. It has never been a goal of mine. My goals as a competitor were to always be a good sport, model positive behavior, and be the best role model I could be,” said Hansen.

“As a leader on the board, I strive to look out for the best interests of our members, be ethical, fair and reasonable in all my duties and decisions, and faithfully put in the required time and effort into each task I am responsible for participating in.

“I feel there are so many deserving individuals who put in an enormous amount of work and effort, so again, I am so honored to have been chosen for this prestigious designation"

In addition to his Board service, Hansen has served as the USARS Vice-President from November 2014 to October 2016, and Chairman of the Board since November 2016. He has served on the Finance Committee since 2010, and the Executive Committee since 2012. Additionally, he has served on the Membership & Eligibility Committee, Personnel Committee, Committee on Committees, Nominating Committee and the Athlete Advisory Committee.

USA Roller Sports was one of two finalists considered for NGB status of Skateboarding, making its debut at the 2020 Tokyo Games, and Hansen served as one of six representatives for the Organization presenting to the USOC. Although the other organization was ultimately chosen during an approximate 18-month process, it entailed a significant investment of time of all committee members.

USARS encompasses governing the sports of Figure Skating, Speed Skating, Inline Hockey, Rink (quad skates) Hockey, Roller Derby and Freestyle/Slalom Skating. The organization oversees athletes, coaches and officials, as well as conducting the Official National Championships and selecting World Team members to participate in its sports.

USA Roller Sports has sanctioned the 5th Great Lakes International Skate Camp for Warsaw  Nov. 9-12. The camp focuses on freestyle, figures and pairs figure skating, and brings skaters from all over the country to Warsaw. Hansen's vision for this training camp has impacted over 300 skaters and 50 coaches from around the country, many attending multiple years, and is one of the largest such camps in the country.
