Warsaw Library Board Adopts 2019 Budget

According to paperwork provided by the library, the budget to operate the library in 2019 will be an estimated $3.46 million.
Much of the budget, $1.88 million, comes from a property tax levy. Under current circumstances, the corresponding tax rate per $100 of taxable property is 0.1499.
However, that may well decrease before the state certifies the budget.
Last year, the board approved the 2018 budget with a tax rate of 0.1472 and it ended up being certified at 0.1232, according to Renee Sweeny, the library’s business manager.

Final tax rates often change after the state calculates assessed values.
Comparably, the 2019 budget approved Monday represents a decrease over what was approved last year, when the board adopted a budget of $3.53 million.
The board also voted to set aside $100,000 in the rainy day fund for next year.
In another matter, the board received two bids for the service elevator.
Milestone Construction of Syracuse bid $158,000 and Strebig Construction of Fort Wayne bid $137,380.40.
The bids were taken under advisement by the board.
The board’s next meeting is set for Nov. 19.
