This letter is in response to Laura Deal-Decker's letter.

I am an investigative clerk in the Wayne Township trustee's office. I do not know who you have talked to, but to say we shamed the client is most certainly not true. We are all Christian women in this office. There are times when we were unable to assist a client; however, the trustee has given money out of her own pocket to help.

I pray at the end of the day for the clients that came in to the office that day. We all care deeply for those in need.

There are some people wanting help, but are not willing to work and just want a handout not a hand up. As we all know, there are numerous job opportunities within our community for those who want and are willing to work.

A client wanting assistance must complete an application and there are financial guidelines we must follow along with other restrictions. We cannot just give to everyone who comes in and we cannot just give unlimited funds, but do the best we can within those guidelines. We show respect and do have respect for all individuals who come in to our office.
