AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League announced its 2018-2019 men’s basketball preseason poll and preseason All-League award winners on Wednesday, as voted on by the league’s 10 head coaches.

Indiana Wesleyan was tabbed as the clear preseason favorite to win the Crossroads League Championship, after securing its second NAIA National Championship in three seasons to close the 2017-2018 campaign.

IWU’s Kyle Mangas, a former Warsaw Community High School standout and Indiana All-Star, was selected by the league head coaches as the Crossroads League Preseason Player of the Year.

Mangas earned NAIA First-Team All-American and NAIA National Championship Tournament Most Valuable Player honors as a freshman and is joined on the Preseason First-Team All-Crossroads League Team by fellow 2017-2018 All-Americans, Wes Stowers (MU), Paul Marandet (SAU) and Evan Maxwell (IWU), in addition to reigning CL Defensive Player of the Year, Regginald Kissoonlal (MU).

Marandet was Mangas’ teammate at WCHS, and the duo led the Tigers to a 25-2 record and Class 4A semistate appearance in 2016.

Marian University was second in the preseason league rankings, followed by Mount Vernon Nazarene, St. Francis, Bethel, Taylor, Huntington, Spring Arbor, Grace and Goshen.

Grace’s Logan Godfrey was selected to the league’s preseason second team.

On the women’s side, Marian University hauled in eight first-place votes and was tabbed as the preseason favorite to win the Crossroads League Championship on the heels of securing its third-straight regular season league title one year ago.

Taylor’s Kendall Bradbury was the unanimous selection of the league’s head coaches as the Crossroads League Preseason Player of the Year.

Bradbury netted her third NAIA All-American nod in 2017-2018 and was joined on the Preseason First-Team All-Crossroads League Team by fellow 2017-2018 NAIA All-Americans Kara Gerka (USF) and Dejah Cyrus (MU), in addition to All-Crossroads League standouts Nicole Ignasiak (IWU) and Sarah Fryman (HU).

Grace College’s Brooke Sugg was selected to the second team, while IWU’s Anne Secrest, a former Tippecanoe Valley standout and Indiana All-Star who transferred from NCAA Division I Youngstown State in the spring, is on the preseason third team.

Grace College’s Vironnica Drake received honorable mention status.

St. Francis was picked to finish second behind Marian, followed by IWU, Taylor, Huntington, Grace, Mount Vernon Nazarene, Spring Arbor, Bethel and Goshen.
