North Webster Lady Lions

NORTH WEBSTER — The North Webster Lady Lions Club recently finalized plans for the Holiday Shopping Bazaar.

The bazaar will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at North Webster Community Center. This annual tradition in the North Webster Community draws shoppers from various areas.

Vendors must register by Oct. 19. An 8-by-8-foot space is $25. A 12-by-12-foot space is $40. Tables are $5 each. Electricity is available.

Set-up will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 2.

An application can be found on Facebook at North Webster Lady Lions Club.

Concessions will be available throughout the day.

Proceeds from the bazaar will support projects in the North Webster/Kosciusko County area. In the past year the Lady Lions have supported North Webster Cub Scout cake auction, North Webster Fire Department Halloween activity, North Webster Lady Lions scholarships, Lions third grade dictionary project, Lions Club Easter egg hunt, Wawasee Summer League, North Webster Elementary PTO, North Webster Food Pantry, North Webster Community Center, North Webster Community Christmas and other community events.



Kosciusko County Retired Teachers

The final meeting of the Kosciusko County Retired Teachers will be Tuesday at Miller’s Senior Living Center, 1634 S. County Farm Road, Warsaw.

Arrival and registration begin at 11:30 a.m., with lunch served at noon.  Cost is $5.

A memorial service is planned by Dan Pacheco to honor those who have died during 2018.

The group is starting to collect volunteer hours. Volunteer hours of retired teachers as a group will be submitted in the fight for cost-of-living rights of retired teachers.

Sept. 11 the KCRT met at Miller’s Senior Living. The program was presented by Martin Becker: “Life and Music by Hoagy Carmichael,” our “Hoosier musical treasure.”



Wednesday Night Bridge

Wednesday Night Bridge group had six tables this week, with the following winners: Peggy Wilson, John Wagley, Tom Anderson, Kathy Clary, Jim Keiffer, Andy Overmeyer and Mary Thompson.

Janet and John Wagley were hostess and host.

Four Seasons Ladies Bridge

WINONA LAKE — The Four Seasons Ladies Bridge group met Wednesday at Grace Village.

Winners were Peg Zimmerman, Joan Earhart, Dian Cartwright and Ann Howe.

Maxine Harris was hostess.



Singles Meeting Friends

The group reported a nice evening at Martin's upstairs deli Wednesday.

Donna reminded everyone of the Octoberfest celebration this weekend at Camp Mack outside Milford. She said there will be lots of activities and foods.

Catherine brought up the idea of plans for a Christmas party. She has checked into using facilities at her apartment complex. Plans are being made for the middle of December.

After the meeting, six people decided to play some bid euchre. While playing they were joined by Brent. Everyone enjoyed the stories and jokes he shared to brighten the evening.

The group gathers at around 6:45 p.m. Wednesdays at the upstairs deli at Martin’s Super Market, Warsaw. Visitors are welcome.



Winona Literary Club

The Winona Literary Club met Wednesday for its regular meeting, which was called to order by President Paula Ibach. The collect was recited by members.

Marcia South introduced the entertainment, Ben and Stefanie Essick, who played guitar and flute duets and some vocal numbers.

The business followed with minutes and reports.

Ibach gave reviews on several Amish fictions and made recommendations.

Refreshments were served by Bonnie Church and Vera Stevens.

The next meeting will be Oct. 17.



North Webster Community Center SPEC

NORTH WEBSTER — Bridge results at the Senior Prime Enrichment Center this week:

On Thursday, Jean Cowan was first and Richard Blank was second.

No games were played Tuesday.



Grace Thursday Bridge

Grace Thursday Bridge met this week with Edith Vitoux as hostess.

Winners were Peggy Wilson, Rosalee Spear and Ann Thallemer.
