Stonehenge Golf Club Closing Permanently

Head golf professional Griffyn Carpenter confirmed for News Now Warsaw’s Roger Grossman Thursday that the club was closing its doors next week and would not reopen next spring.
Members also say they received an email Thursday afternoon from Stonehenge saying Nov. 17 would be the last day for golf in 2018, and that there are no plans for a 2019 golf season.
“I can’t even begin to say how bummed I have been today,” Griffin said in a Facebook post. “Unfortunately, we found out that Stonehenge Golf Club is closing their doors for good and not reopening next season.
“The memories I have been fortunate enough to collect here and the people I have been blessed to meet truly make this place so special. From a junior golfer learning the game with my father and brother, to a high school athlete playing for my dad, then to having the honor of being the head professional for this golf club, I have been very blessed with my time here throughout my life. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I value the friendships I made that will last a lifetime.
“This place has made a true impact in my life and I will forever be in debt to you, Stonehenge. Thank you for absolutely everything. I will forever miss you.”
In an effort to generate revenue, the once private club went public a few years ago. Since then, various parts of the country club, such as the pool, have not opened at the traditional beginning of warm-weather seasons in an effort to cut costs.
The golf course was home to Warsaw and Triton boys and girls golf teams, and annually hosted IHSAA sectional and regional tournaments.
Stonehenge joins a growing list of golf courses that have closed in recent years. Others that have closed in the region include Little Big Horn, east of Warsaw; Big Boulder, Milford; Timber Ridge near Millersburg; and Spring O’Mint, west of Bremen.
