She was born Nov. 28, 1932, in Jasper County, to Ernest and Gladys Smith Rees. She was a longtime area teacher, having taught in Milford and Columbia City schools for over 35 years.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, where she was very active and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Kosciusko Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Annette) Cook, Syracuse; two daughters, Diane (Charles) Scruggs, Noblesville, and Rita (Mark) Pittman, Carmel; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Huffman, South Bend; and her longtime companion, John Fisher, Syracuse.
She was preceded by three sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Eastlund Funeral Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the funeral home, with Pastor David Herr officiating.
