TIPTON – Richard A. Parrish, 86, Anderson, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, in Anderson. He had previously lived in Windfall and Chesterfield.

Richard was born in Windfall on Oct. 28, 1932, to William Ruben and Frances Ailman Parrish. On Aug. 20, 1951, he married Opal J. Keown. She preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2013.

Richard retired from Guide Lamp in Anderson. He was a member of Chesterfield First Free Will Baptist Church.

Richard also was a member of the American Legion, Korean War Veterans and WBCC Airstream Club. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

Richard is survived by his children, William R. Parrish, Indianapolis, and Deborah L. Ellingwood (Kirby LeMond), Claypool; siblings: Bob Parrish (wife Pat), Don Parrish (wife Shirley), Patty Fisher and Keith Parrish (wife Shirley); a grandson, Justin M. Ellingwood (wife Nicole), Carmel; a great-grandson, Jaylen Leonard, and a great-granddaughter, Tylee Ellingwood, both of Carmel; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William Parrish.

Richard’s funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, with Chaplin Brenda Walls presiding. Burial with military rites will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.

Visitation will be Sunday from noon until the service.
