Matthew Robert Thomas, 36, of 1072 E. Wellington Drive, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 6:04 p.m. Tuesday for child seduction, a level 6 felony. His preliminary bond was set at $50,000 surety and $250 cash.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed Thursday, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Det. Shane Bucher spoke with a therapist in Elkhart on Sept. 27. The therapist said a girl – at least 16 but younger than 18 – told her she had a sexual relationship with Thomas that continued through her senior year of high school. Information on when the relationship began and how long it lasted were redacted in the affidavit. It also doesn’t indicate how the girl and Thomas knew each other.
A forensic interviewer spoke with the girl, who said Thomas came into the bedroom while she was sleeping, kissed her, undressed and had sexual intercourse with her at his residence. After that incident, the girl said they had oral sex numerous times.
A no contact order between Thomas and the victim was ordered Thursday.
