Last Monday Euchre Club

The Last Monday Euchre Club met at the Warsaw Senior Center on May 21.

High winner was Arlene Brooke, most lones was Mary Grubbs and low was Mary Lou Laurino.

The next meeting will be at 12:30 p.m. June 25 at the Warsaw Senior Center.     



Daughters Of The American Revolution

Agnes Pruyn Chapman DAR met at May 22 at Richards Restaurant, Warsaw, with nine members and one guest.

Following lunch, Regent Kathy Gawthrop introduced the program guest, Stacey Leek from Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice. It was founded in 1976 by a group of nurses who saw the need for this service in the area. Hospice was added in 1982. It is the only locally owned home care and hospice in the community. Its provides care for all age groups and was awarded the Five Star Patient Care Award for northern Indiana.

The meeting was opened with the DAR opening rituals.  Gawthrop read the president general's message and Paulene Holderman read an article from the National Defender about the World War I German U-boat attack on the SS Tuscania in 1918. Gawthrop passed around the annual report from the DAR school in Crossnore, N.C.

Evelyn Rake has been appointed as the new director of the Kosciusko County Historical Society. She is also organizing a Facebook page for the local DAR chapter. Rake and her sister will present a program on paranormal activity later this year at the Old Jail.

The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. June 26 at the Senior Center on Park Avenue in Warsaw. It will be a carry-in dinner with chicken and beverages provided. Members are asked to RSVP; guests are invited. The program will be presented by Brigadier General J. Stewart Goodwin, USAF, retired. He is the curator of Indiana War Memorial Monuments.

Membership in Daughters of the American Revolution is open to any woman who had an ancestor who fought in or aided the patriot cause during the American Revolution. Contact Gawthrop at 574-527-2674 with any questions.



Four Seasons Ladies Bridge

WINONA LAKE — The group gathered May 23 at Grace Village, with Dian Cartwright as hostess.

Winners were Elaine Tripp, Peg Zimmerman, Maxine Harris and Erma Swank.

Wednesday Night Bridge

The group had six tables May 23, with the following winners: Joan Earhart, Nancy Dalton, Becky Girard, Annette Magner, Bob Mayer, Grant Magner and Janet Petro.

Janet and John Wagley were hostess and host.

The group meets every Wednesday. New bridge players are welcome. If interested, call Janet Wagley at 574-268-1330.



Singles Meeting Friends

A small group met Wednesday night upstairs at the deli in Martin's Super Market.

Donna reminded the group that Relay for Life is in two weeks. She said she has been very busy with the upcoming event.

Some of the friends went to visit Betty in Wabash and played some euchre. Betty is doing much better and enjoyed their visit.

The group also discussed Music in the Park for the summer, which started Friday with Cornfield Mafia, a country group. Kevin Purcell & The Nightburners (blues rock) will perform next week.

They also discussed activities for Memorial Day weekend, including Milford Fest today. The festival will have free carnival rides, free pony rides, a car-tractor-motorcycle show, food vendors, entertainment including Quentin Flagg, and street dancing. Garage sales are planned all over town.

The 2018 Northern Indiana Lakes Festival continues through Sunday at Center Lake Park in Warsaw. It offers food, live music and entertainment, lake education, kayaking, arts and crafts, a parade, fireworks and more.

Members were reminded that June 1 is First Friday.

Grace Thursday Bridge met May 24 with Elaine Tripp as hostess.

Winners were Joan Kizer and Joyce Latta.



North Webster Community Center SPE

NORTH WEBSTER — Bridge winners at the Senior Prime Enrichment Center on May 24 were, first, Jean Cowan, and second, a tie between Wanda and Mike Wyrick.
