Audra Irene Rhoades, of Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, formerly a longtime resident of Pierceton, passed away at Grace Village Health Care. Audra was a virtuous, quiet woman of great faith. At 10:47 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, she stepped on shore and found it heaven … took a hand and found it God’s … breathed her first breath of new air and found it celestial …and waking up in glory and found it home!

She was born on Jan. 24, 1923, in Clay Township, Kosciusko County, to Arlie F. Beigh and Laurena Karns Beigh. On Nov. 26, 1942, in Walkerton, she was married to Ernest F. Rhoades, who passed away on Aug. 15, 2000.

Audra was lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, residing the majority of her life in Pierceton, and she was a 1941 graduate of Claypool High School.

She was very involved with the Warsaw/Winona Lake Gideons Auxiliary since the 1960s, and was a volunteer coordinator for the Kosciusko County Historical Society for many years as well as being involved with child evangelism.

Audra was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening and was a member of Atwood Christian Fellowship. She was a praying mother and grandmother and will be forever missed.

She will be lovingly remembered by her four sons: Ron (Judy) Rhoades, Holland, Mich.; John (Aggie) Rhoades, Fort Meyers, Fla.; Frank (Christy) Rhoades, Pierceton; and Dean (Chris) Rhoades, Pierceton. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest R. Rhoades, in 2000; two sisters; four brothers; and her great-grandson, Brevin Sautter.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Saturday, May 26, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Her funeral service will follow immediately at 1 p.m. Saturday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jerry Kissinger.

Burial will follow with a graveside service at Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
