A Warsaw man was arrested earlier this week after allegedly burglarizing a home and making his getaway in a taxicab.

Aaron Robert Marshall, 34, of 777 N. CR 600W, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail Tuesday afternoon for burglary of a dwelling and failure to appear – felony with a preliminary bond set at $40,500.

Court documents filed April 26 list the charges against him as burglary, a level 4 felony, and theft, a level 6 felony.

On April 23, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputy Shawn Castillo responded to a burglary and spoke with the resident who said she believed the burglary happened sometime between April 22 and April 23 and that the suspect entered through a back door.

Among the items stolen were four televisions, a gaming console and accessories, three Blu-ray players, hundreds of DVD movies, a coffee maker, money and a wax melter. Total value was estimated to be $3,000. She said she believes the person  who broke into her residence was Marshall.

KCSD deputy Shane Bucher spoke with the resident who said she spoke with a man who lives nearby and told her that a cab brought Marshall to his residence sometime during the night and he had a lot of items with him. The victim described her property to the man who said that it was the same items Marshall had brought to his house.

The victim then said she went to his residence and identified the items and took them back to her residence.

The cab driver later told Bucher she picked up a man on April 23. When she picked him up, it took him half an hour to load the items into her vehicle. The cab driver then took the passenger to a residence on Wyland Creek.

The cab driver was able to identify Marshall from a series of photos.

Marshall also has a pre-trial hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday on an auto theft charge, a level 6 felony.

On Jan. 31, county deputy Thomas Waikel responded to a report of an auto theft. Upon arrival, he spoke to a woman who said her son started her silver 2003 Chevy Malibu and then came back into the residence. When he went back to get in the vehicle, an unknown subject had stolen it and was driving down the lane.

On Feb. 1, KCSD deputy Donald McCune spoke with a man who said he believed a stolen 2003 Chevrolet Malibu was at his brother’s residence. He told McCune that Marshall brought the vehicle to his brother’s residence sometime during the night, according to court documents filed Feb. 2.

He said Marshall was at the Victory Hotel in Warsaw.

Officers went to the brother’s residence and found the 2003 Chevy Malibu under a tarp.

KCSD deputy Todd Sautter spoke with another man who said Marshall told him he stole the Malibu.

Another man reported Marshall wanted him to go with him to steal the Malibu but he declined.

Officers found Marshall outside the Victory Hotel where he was arrested.

On that arrest, Marshall’s bond was $5,000 surety and $250 cash.
