‘Sense Of Place’ To Screen In N. Manchester
NORTH MANCHESTER — The North Manchester Historical Society is screening the documentary “A Sense of Place” on Thursday.
The program will be at the Center for History, 122 E. Main Street, at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend, and free popcorn and lemonade will be available. Music and door prizes are also planned.
The video was conceived as a project for the Indiana Bicentennial, and as a follow-up to a 1938 film “See Yourself in the Movies.” It explores how North Manchester has been perceived in videos from 1938 through a 1985 “Good Morning America” series, and lets town residents give their views about North Manchester’s strengths and challenges today.
Movie makers James R.C. Adams, Charles Boebel and Mary Chrastil will introduce the film and be available to answer questions. They interviewed scores of North Manchester residents from 2013 to 2017; about 35 appear in the video.
Videos will be available for purchase in DVD and Blu-Ray formats.
