Layne Prater Throws One-Hitter; Valley Routs Argos

AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley baseball team won 11-0 over Argos on Friday in five innings.

Valley’s Layne Prater got the win on the mound. He tossed a one-hitter and struck out nine batters.

The Vikings tallied 11 hits as a team and committed zero errors on defense. 

Lucas Walters led the team with two RBIs on two base hits. Tucker Shull added two doubles and one RBI.

Ethan Yates had one RBI and hit a triple. Drew Hartman had two hits for the Vikings.

Valley hosts Rochester on Monday for a Three Rivers Conference showdown.

Elkhart Memorial Edges Wawasee In NLC Contest

SYRACUSE – The Wawasee baseball team lost 8-4 against Elkhart Memorial on Friday.

The Warriors allowed seven runs in the first two innings. 

Wawasee’s leadoff hitter, Kameron Salazar, had three hits and one RBI to lead the team, including a double.

Jeremiah Bess added two hits and one RBI. Jairus Boyer and Jacob Garcia both had an RBI for the Warriors.

Wawasee hosts Fort Wayne Concordia today at 10 a.m.

Warsaw Baseball Loses To NLC-Leading Goshen

The Warsaw baseball team lost 4-0 to the top team in the Northern Lakes Conference on Friday, Goshen.

Warsaw’s Jared Hawley, Noah Burgh, Liam Patton, Matt Shoemaker and Michael Nunez each had a hit for the Tigers.

The Tigers host NLC-rival Plymouth on Monday at 5:15 p.m.

GOSHEN – The Warsaw Lady Tiger softball team lost 4-1 at Goshen on Friday.

The Lady Tigers out hit Goshen 8-5, despite losing.

Warsaw’s Courtney Chookie took the loss for the team. She struck out six and gave up two earned runs.

Isabelle Dittmar led the Lady Tigers with two hits.

Warsaw travels to Plymouth on Monday for an NLC contest.

Lady Warriors Cruise Past Lakeland In Tennis Action

LAGRANGE – The Wawasee Lady Warrior tennis team won 4-1 in a nonconference match at Lakeland on Friday.

Wawasee’s Elizabeth Kleopfer lost 6-2 in the first set at No. 2 singles, but came back to win the match by winning the next two sets 6-1, 6-1.

Kennedy Church won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Lady Warriors.

Kabrea Rostochak and Courtney Larson won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Brianna Haessig and Molly Jones were winners at the No. 2 doubles spot.

Wawasee visits Jimtown today for a nonconference match.

BREMEN – The Triton girls tennis team lost 3-2 at Bremen on Friday.

The lone singles player to win for Triton was Kolbie Mason at the No. 1 spot. She won in straight sets with scores of 6-3, 6-1. 

The No. 1 doubles pair of Hannah Wanemacher and Emma Rose won 6-2, 6-1 for the Lady Trojans. The No. 2 doubles duo of Megan McFarland and Emma Hepler fell 6-4, 6-2 in a close match.

Triton competes in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday.
