Triton Netters Clinch Hoosier North Championship

KNOX – The Triton Lady Trojan tennis team clinched the Hoosier North Athletic Conference championship on Wednesday after beating Knox 3-2.

Triton finished with a 6-0 record and has won three straight HNAC titles. 

Kolbie Mason won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for the Lady Trojans and was the only singles player to win a match and set.

The No. 1 doubles pair of Hannah Wanemacher and Emma Ross won 6-0, 6-0. The No. 2 doubles duo of Megan McFarland and Emma Hepler won 6-1, 6-0,

The Lady Trojans play at Bremen tonight. The match begins at 4:30 p.m.

Manchester’s Lydia Little won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. The No. 2 doubles pair of Lauren Metzger and Rebekah Pyle won 6-2, 6-2.

Halle Briner lost a close match at No. 2 singles for the Lady Squires. She fell 6-4, 6-4.

Manchester plays at Tippecanoe Valley on Monday for a Three Rivers Conference match.

Lady Warriors Lose To NorthWood In NLC Match

SYRACUSE – The Wawasee girls tennis team lost 4-1 to NorthWood in a Northern Lakes Conference match.

The lone point for Wawasee came from the No. 2 doubles pair of Brianna Haessig and Molly Jones, who won 6-2, 6-4. 

Elizabeth Kleopfer pushed her first set to a tiebreaker at No. 2 singles. She fell 6-6 (7-4), 6-4. Kennedy Church had her second set at No. 3 singles go to a tiebreaker. She lost the match 6-1, 6-6 (7-4).

The Lady Warriors play at Lakeland on Friday.

Warsaw Netters Survive At NLC Foe Concord

DUNLAP – The Warsaw Lady Tiger tennis team won 3-2 at Concord Wednesday evening.

The Lady Tigers got all their wins in singles play. 

Warsaw’s Liza Lewis won in straight sets at No. 1 singles. She won 6-1, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, Alyssa Zellers won in straight sets as well 6-4, 6-3.

Ella Knight won 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 2 singles for the Lady Tigers.

Warsaw will play at Culver Academies tonight due to the weather changing the location.

NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester Squire baseball team lost 3-1 to Southwood on Wednesday.

Southwood scored two runs in the top of the seventh to come away with the Three Rivers Conference victory.

Manchester’s Hayes Sturtsman took the loss. He allowed three runs, on six hits and struck out 12.

Noah Beck and Mason Roberts both had two hits for the Squires. Grant Strobel had a hit and an RBI.

Manchester hosts DeKalb on Saturday for a doubleheader.

WABASH – The Tippecanoe Valley baseball team fell 7-2 at Wabash on Wednesday.

In the Three Rivers Conference showdown, the Vikings scored both of their runs in the top of the seventh.

Adam Myers led the team with two hits. Wes Melanson had one hit and an RBI.

Ethan Yates tossed five innings in the losing effort. He struck out three batters and allowed four runs; zero were unearned.

Valley hosts Rochester on Monday. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.

Both teams entered the game with undefeated records in Three Rivers Conference play.

Ellie Snep took the loss the Lady Wildcats. She struck out nine. At the plate, she had a double.

Shi Bradley, Anna Ousley, Harley Bradley and Madison Smith all had singles for Whitko.

The Lady Wildcats host Fort Wayne Wayne tonight.

Tipping Wins Two Events For Wawasee T&F

GOSHEN – The Wawasee boys track and field lost 107-25 to Goshen and 90.50-41.50 to Elkhart Memorial on Wednesday.

In the Northern Lakes Conference meet, Elisha Tipping won two events for the Warriors.

He had a first-place mark in the discus with a throw of 142 feet, 3 inches. In the shot put, he had a distance of 50 feet, 8 inches for first place.

Luke Griner won the 400-meter race with a time of 50.92 seconds. Eric Yankosky earned third in the pole vault. He had a height of 11 feet, 6 inches.

The 4x400-meter relay of Jayden Boyer, Keyan Peete, Chris Pena and Clay Kelsheimer finished second in the race.

Wawasee competes at Goshen on Monday in the NLC Championship.



Tiger T&F Splits NLC Meet

The Warsaw Tiger track and field team defeated NorthWood 83-49 and lost 69-63 to Plymouth on Wednesday.

Warsaw’s Justin Fleming finished first in the 1600-meter race. Taylor Mills ended second and Xavi Ramierez earned third.

Mills finished first in the 800-meter race. Fleming received second in the event.

Lucas Howett finished first in the 3200-meter race for the Tigers. Sam Lechlitner ended third in the event.

The quartet of Nolan Groninger, Marston Norris, Tanner Stiver and Ramierez finished in first place in the 4x800-meter relay.

John Svinarich won the discus and shot put events for Warsaw.

Nick Bazzoni had a height of 13 feet in the pole vault and finished in first place. Tyler Metzinger received second in the high jump.

The Tigers are back in action on Monday in the Northern Lakes Conference Championships at Goshen.



Wawasee’s Drake Medals In Boys Golf Dual Meet

ROCHESTER – The Wawasee boys golf team won 176-219 over Tippecanoe Valley on Wednesday.

At the Round Barn Golf Course, Wawasee’s Dillon Drake was the medalist with a 40. Zach Leedy and Evan Dippon both shot a 44 to follow Drake. Jerrod Krogman and Luke Weisser each carded a 48.

For Valley, Cade Brouyette led the team with a 41. Carter Kistler shot a 51 and Bryce Madeford had a 61.

Mason fired a 66 and Corey Fincher rounded the golfers for the Vikings with a 77.

The Warriors host Jimtown tonight at South Shore. Valley competes at the LaVille Invitational on Saturday.

Rochester Trims Whitko In TRC Softball Contest

SOUTH WHITLEY – The Rochester softball team won 6-5 over Whitko on Wednesday.

Both teams entered the game with undefeated records in Three Rivers Conference play.

Ellie Snep took the loss the Lady Wildcats. She struck out nine. At the plate, she had a double.

Shi Bradley, Anna Ousley, Harley Bradley and Madison Smith all had singles for Whitko.

The Lady Wildcats host Fort Wayne Wayne tonight.

Tipping Wins Two Events For Wawasee T&F

GOSHEN – The Wawasee boys track and field lost 107-25 to Goshen and 90.50-41.50 to Elkhart Memorial on Wednesday.

In the Northern Lakes Conference meet, Elisha Tipping won two events for the Warriors.

He had a first-place mark in the discus with a throw of 142 feet, 3 inches. In the shot put, he had a distance of 50 feet, 8 inches for first place.

Luke Griner won the 400-meter race with a time of 50.92 seconds. Eric Yankosky earned third in the pole vault. He had a height of 11 feet, 6 inches.

The 4x400-meter relay of Jayden Boyer, Keyan Peete, Chris Pena and Clay Kelsheimer finished second in the race.

Wawasee competes at Goshen on Monday in the NLC Championship.



Tiger T&F Splits NLC Meet

The Warsaw Tiger track and field team defeated NorthWood 83-49 and lost 69-63 to Plymouth on Wednesday.

Warsaw’s Justin Fleming finished first in the 1600-meter race. Taylor Mills ended second and Xavi Ramierez earned third.

Mills finished first in the 800-meter race. Fleming received second in the event.

Lucas Howett finished first in the 3200-meter race for the Tigers. Sam Lechlitner ended third in the event.

The quartet of Nolan Groninger, Marston Norris, Tanner Stiver and Ramierez finished in first place in the 4x800-meter relay.

John Svinarich won the discus and shot put events for Warsaw.

Nick Bazzoni had a height of 13 feet in the pole vault and finished in first place. Tyler Metzinger received second in the high jump.

The Tigers are back in action on Monday in the Northern Lakes Conference Championships at Goshen.



Wawasee’s Drake Medals In Boys Golf Dual Meet

ROCHESTER – The Wawasee boys golf team won 176-219 over Tippecanoe Valley on Wednesday.

At the Round Barn Golf Course, Wawasee’s Dillon Drake was the medalist with a 40. Zach Leedy and Evan Dippon both shot a 44 to follow Drake. Jerrod Krogman and Luke Weisser each carded a 48.

For Valley, Cade Brouyette led the team with a 41. Carter Kistler shot a 51 and Bryce Madeford had a 61.

Mason fired a 66 and Corey Fincher rounded the golfers for the Vikings with a 77.

The Warriors host Jimtown tonight at South Shore. Valley competes at the LaVille Invitational on Saturday.

Boys basketball season returned to the Hardwood Teepee Tuesday night as Wawasee tipped off the season for area teams by hosting rival Fairfield.
