Goshert Most Qualified

I am strongly supporting Rocky Goshert for sheriff because I think he is clearly the most qualified. Rocky has the experience in law enforcement, with 21 years as a state police officer and 17 years with the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, over eight years of those as sheriff of Kosciusko County.
Rocky understands our county. He grew up here. He intuitively understands our unique values. Rocky understands the duties of a sheriff. A sheriff is a law enforcement officer, but he is much more.
The sheriff is one of the few offices provided for in Indiana's Constitution. He has many duties to the county and the courts that no other law enforcement officer has. One of the most obvious and well-known of those duties is to run the jail. The sheriff has a duty not only to confine, but to feed, cloth, protect the health and rights, etc., etc., of all of the inmates — averaging over 300 presently. And of course, he cannot do this by himself. He has to manage 37 road officers, 23 jail officers, three court security officers, 11 work release officers, 19 dispatchers, 11 support staff and 17 reserve deputies.
I grew up on a farm over by Pierceton, and one thing my dad hammered into my head as I was growing up was, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Please exercise your right to vote on Election Day by getting out and voting for the candidate of your choice. We are blessed to live in this free country, and if we don't exercise and defend our constitutional rights, we will surely lose them.
