I have almost 20 years in law enforcement, with the last 15 years at the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. I have spent most of my time at the department in the patrol division, until recently I moved to the position of jail commander.

With that being said, I have worked with all the candidates for sheriff in some sort of capacity. I have also had the pleasure of working under Sheriff Goshert for 9-plus years.

While working under Sheriff Goshert, he has led the department and community through some pretty tough times. When the department lost Sgt. Jeff Shaw, Sheriff Goshert led us through that emotional time with caring and understanding. When Sheriff Goshert took over in June 2017, he again stepped up to the challenge.

Sheriff Goshert has led the department and challenged us to maintain a level of professionalism and to continue the best possible service to the community. Sheriff Goshert has expected and required the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department to extend any and all assistance to any other department in the county if need be. Those are the type of qualities that a great leader exhibits in rocky times, and is easy to follow.

Sheriff Goshert, since taking office, has already begun to move forward. Sheriff Goshert has thought outside the box in chemical addiction programs in the jail, looking to help try and curb the drug problem. Sheriff Goshert has been researching the School Safety App in hopes that it will be a financially responsible tool that can help save lives, God forbid. A body scanner has been ordered for the jail to help keep contraband out of the facility and help keep inmates and staff safe. Sheriff Goshert is not waiting to be elected sheriff to start these programs, he is already doing it, another great attribute of a leader.

I have worked for several leaders at a few departments, and I can say that I feel Sheriff Rocky Goshert is one of the best. I feel that not only the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, but the county of Kosciusko will be in great, caring hands that want the best for all.

Please come out May 8, 2018, and vote for Sheriff Goshert.
