Dylan Hensley Strikes Out 15; Triton Haults Caston’s Late Rally

BOURBON – The Triton baseball team won 6-5 over Caston on Tuesday.

In the Hoosier North Athletic Conference contest, Caston scored its five runs in the top of the seventh, but the Trojans pulled out the victory.

Triton’s Dylan Hensley took the win on the mound. He pitched 5-1/3 innings and struck out 15 batters. He allowed five hits and zero runs in the outing.

Lucas Newman led the team with two hits. Newman and Delano Shumpert each had two RBIs. 

Triton travels to Winamac on Saturday.

Valley Falls In Close Match At Wabash

WABASH – The Tippecanoe Valley Lady Viking tennis team lost 3-2 at Wabash on Tuesday. 

Both doubles teams won in a third set super tiebreaker for Valley.

The No. 1 doubles pair of Tiphanie Hodge and Makenna Bradley lost the first set 7-6, but bounced back and won 6-4 in the second. In the tiebreaker, the duo won 11-9.

In the No. 2 doubles match, Kaleigh Shumaker and Mackenzie Costello lost the first set 7-5 and won the second 6-2. In the tiebreaker, the tandem won 12-10.

The Lady Vikings host Manchester on Monday for a Three Rivers Conference match at 5 p.m.

Lady Trojans Trim Knox

BOURBON – The Triton girls tennis team improved its win streak in Hoosier North Athletic Conference play on Tuesday. The Lady Trojans won 3-2 over Knox and moved to 8-1 on the season and 5-0 in the conference.

Triton’s Kolbie Mason was the lone winner in singles play. At the No. 1 spot, she won 6-3, 6-0 for the Lady Trojans.

The No. 1 doubles pair of Hannah Wanemacher and Emma Ross, and No. 2 doubles duo of Megan McFarland and Emma Hepler both won 6-0, 6-0 for Triton.

The Lady Trojans visit Bremen on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Lady Tigers Remain Unbeaten In NLC

The Warsaw Lady Tiger tennis team won 4-1 against NorthWood on Tuesday.

Warsaw moved to 5-0 in Northern Lakes Conference play this season.

Liza Lewis won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for the Lady Tigers. Ella Knight won 6-2, 6-3 and Alyssa Zellers won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively. 

The No. 2 doubles team of Rachel Boyle and Reagan Merchant won 6-3, 7-5 for Warsaw.

The Lady Tigers compete at Concord tonight for an NLC match.

Manchester Claims Three Rivers Victory

NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester boys golf team won 167-178 over Whitko on Monday. 

The Squires shot their lowest score of the season at the match. 

Manchester’s Harley Kruschwitz was the medalist with a 35. Nathan Self and Klayton Hendrix both shot a 43. Konrad Borgmann carded a 46 and Mathia McLaughlin fired a 54.

Whitko’s Kaleb Busz shot a 40 to lead the team. Cade Bechtold had a 45 and Kyler Brant shot a 46.

Dale Reiff carded a 47 and Jonathan Strayer had a 58 to round out the golfers for the Wildcats.

Manchester returns to action on Thursday with a dual match against Huntington North at Norwood Golf Club. Whitko hosts Norwell on Thursday.



Wabash County Track & Field Meet

WABASH – Southwood High School hosted the Wabash County track and field meet on Tuesday.

Wabash won the boys meet with 90 points. Manchester finished second, Southwood third and Northfield fourth.

Northfield won the girls meet and Manchester finished second. Wabash and Southwood finished third and fourth, respectively. 

Manchester’s Isaiah Davis won the high and long jump events. Remington Trick won the 400-meter race with a time of 54.05 seconds.

The 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams won first for the Squires. The 4x800-meter relay ended in second.

Nick Wagner finished second in the 100-meter sprint and Trey Clark tallied second in the 200-meter dash. Gavin Ream had a second-place mark in the discus.

Katie Barker won the 100-meter hurdles event for the Lady Squires. She had a third-place result in the 300-meter hurdles.

Sarah Pegg won the discus throw with a distance of 91 feet, 4 inches. The 4x800-meter relay finished in first.

Kailea Kerr finished second in the 400-meter and third in the 100 and 200-meter races.

Manchester competes on Tuesday in the Three Rivers Meet at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Wawasee’s Field Events Highlight Meet

SYRACUSE – Wawasee hosted Northridge and Elkhart Memorial on Tuesday for a Northern Lakes Conference girls track and field meet.

Northridge won 69-63 over Memorial and 91-41 over the Lady Warriors. The Lady Chargers won 81-51 over Wawasee.

Wawasee’s Jada Parazygot finished first in the pole vault. She ended in second in the long jump. Hannah-Marie Lamle won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 11-1/2 inches. 

Lamle finished second in the 100 and 300-meter hurdle events.

Sara Pritchard had a distance of 107 feet and a 1/2 inch to finish first. Her throw was a half inch longer than second place to win. She finished third in the shot put.

Bailey Mayhew and McKenzie Smith finished first and second, respectively, in the 800-meter race for the Lady Warriors.

The team of Nadia Palacious, Mayhew, Lamle and Smith received second in the 4x400-meter relay.

Wawasee competes at the Goshen Relays on Saturday.

Valley T&F Finishes Second

ROCHESTER – Rochester hosted Tippecanoe Valley and Triton on Tuesday for a boys and girls track and field meet. Rochester won both meets and Valley finished second and Triton third.

Valley’s Dakota Parker won the 100 and 400-meter races. Jameson Baker and Will Hassenplug finished first and second, respectively, in both the shot put and discus events.

Jon Humes finished second in the long jump and Dwight Conley ended second in the high jump.

Delaney Wagoner won the 800-meter race and long jump event for the Lady Vikings. Brianna McBrier finished second in the long jump.

Valeria Jimenez had a first-place nod in the 400-meter race. 

Valley competes at the Three Rivers Conference meet at Indiana Wesleyan University on Tuesday.

Lady Tiger T&F Rolls Over Plymouth

The Warsaw Lady Tiger track and field team won 107-25 over Plymouth on Tuesday in a Northern Lakes Conference meet.

Warsaw won all but two events on senior night. 

Makayla Clampitt finished first in the 100-meter dash. Emma Bohnenkamper finished first in the 1600 and third in the 3200-meter races.

Lady Tigers’ Remi Beckham won the 800-meter race and Angie Sanchez-Vijil received second. Mia Beckham won the 3200-meter race.

Abbigail Curtis won the 200 and had a second-place mark in the 100-meter sprint. Michaela Buriff earned first in the 300-meter hurdles.

Alexie Day (high jump), Shunterra Davis (long jump), Caitlin Kehler (pole vault) and  Lynae Dawson (discus) all finished first in their respective events for Warsaw.

The Lady Tigers compete on Tuesday in the NLC Championships at Goshen.

Triton’s Dylan Hensley took the win on the mound. He pitched 5-1/3 innings and struck out 15 batters. He allowed five hits and zero runs in the outing.

Lucas Newman led the team with two hits. Newman and Delano Shumpert each had two RBIs.

Valley Falls In Close Match At Wabash

WABASH – The Tippecanoe Valley Lady Viking tennis team lost 3-2 at Wabash on Tuesday. 

Both doubles teams won in a third set super tiebreaker for Valley.

The No. 1 doubles pair of Tiphanie Hodge and Makenna Bradley lost the first set 7-6, but bounced back and won 6-4 in the second. In the tiebreaker, the duo won 11-9.

In the No. 2 doubles match, Kaleigh Shumaker and Mackenzie Costello lost the first set 7-5 and won the second 6-2. In the tiebreaker, the tandem won 12-10.

The Lady Vikings host Manchester on Monday for a Three Rivers Conference match at 5 p.m.

Lady Trojans Trim Knox

BOURBON – The Triton girls tennis team improved its win streak in Hoosier North Athletic Conference play on Tuesday. The Lady Trojans won 3-2 over Knox and moved to 8-1 on the season and 5-0 in the conference.

Triton’s Kolbie Mason was the lone winner in singles play. At the No. 1 spot, she won 6-3, 6-0 for the Lady Trojans.

The No. 1 doubles pair of Hannah Wanemacher and Emma Ross, and No. 2 doubles duo of Megan McFarland and Emma Hepler both won 6-0, 6-0 for Triton.

The Lady Trojans visit Bremen on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Lady Tigers Remain Unbeaten In NLC

The Warsaw Lady Tiger tennis team won 4-1 against NorthWood on Tuesday.

Warsaw moved to 5-0 in Northern Lakes Conference play this season.

Liza Lewis won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for the Lady Tigers. Ella Knight won 6-2, 6-3 and Alyssa Zellers won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively. 

The No. 2 doubles team of Rachel Boyle and Reagan Merchant won 6-3, 7-5 for Warsaw.

The Lady Tigers compete at Concord tonight for an NLC match.

Manchester Claims Three Rivers Victory

NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester boys golf team won 167-178 over Whitko on Monday. 

The Squires shot their lowest score of the season at the match. 

Manchester’s Harley Kruschwitz was the medalist with a 35. Nathan Self and Klayton Hendrix both shot a 43. Konrad Borgmann carded a 46 and Mathia McLaughlin fired a 54.

Whitko’s Kaleb Busz shot a 40 to lead the team. Cade Bechtold had a 45 and Kyler Brant shot a 46.

Dale Reiff carded a 47 and Jonathan Strayer had a 58 to round out the golfers for the Wildcats.

Manchester returns to action on Thursday with a dual match against Huntington North at Norwood Golf Club. Whitko hosts Norwell on Thursday.



Wabash County Track & Field Meet

WABASH – Southwood High School hosted the Wabash County track and field meet on Tuesday.

Wabash won the boys meet with 90 points. Manchester finished second, Southwood third and Northfield fourth.

Northfield won the girls meet and Manchester finished second. Wabash and Southwood finished third and fourth, respectively. 

Manchester’s Isaiah Davis won the high and long jump events. Remington Trick won the 400-meter race with a time of 54.05 seconds.

The 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams won first for the Squires. The 4x800-meter relay ended in second.

Nick Wagner finished second in the 100-meter sprint and Trey Clark tallied second in the 200-meter dash. Gavin Ream had a second-place mark in the discus.

Katie Barker won the 100-meter hurdles event for the Lady Squires. She had a third-place result in the 300-meter hurdles.

Sarah Pegg won the discus throw with a distance of 91 feet, 4 inches. The 4x800-meter relay finished in first.

Kailea Kerr finished second in the 400-meter and third in the 100 and 200-meter races.

Manchester competes on Tuesday in the Three Rivers Meet at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Wawasee’s Field Events Highlight Meet

SYRACUSE – Wawasee hosted Northridge and Elkhart Memorial on Tuesday for a Northern Lakes Conference girls track and field meet.

Northridge won 69-63 over Memorial and 91-41 over the Lady Warriors. The Lady Chargers won 81-51 over Wawasee.

Wawasee’s Jada Parazygot finished first in the pole vault. She ended in second in the long jump. Hannah-Marie Lamle won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 11-1/2 inches. 

Lamle finished second in the 100 and 300-meter hurdle events.

Sara Pritchard had a distance of 107 feet and a 1/2 inch to finish first. Her throw was a half inch longer than second place to win. She finished third in the shot put.

Bailey Mayhew and McKenzie Smith finished first and second, respectively, in the 800-meter race for the Lady Warriors.

The team of Nadia Palacious, Mayhew, Lamle and Smith received second in the 4x400-meter relay.

Wawasee competes at the Goshen Relays on Saturday.

Valley T&F Finishes Second

ROCHESTER – Rochester hosted Tippecanoe Valley and Triton on Tuesday for a boys and girls track and field meet. Rochester won both meets and Valley finished second and Triton third.

Valley’s Dakota Parker won the 100 and 400-meter races. Jameson Baker and Will Hassenplug finished first and second, respectively, in both the shot put and discus events.

Jon Humes finished second in the long jump and Dwight Conley ended second in the high jump.

Delaney Wagoner won the 800-meter race and long jump event for the Lady Vikings. Brianna McBrier finished second in the long jump.

Valeria Jimenez had a first-place nod in the 400-meter race. 

Valley competes at the Three Rivers Conference meet at Indiana Wesleyan University on Tuesday.

Lady Tiger T&F Rolls Over Plymouth

The Warsaw Lady Tiger track and field team won 107-25 over Plymouth on Tuesday in a Northern Lakes Conference meet.

Warsaw won all but two events on senior night. 

Makayla Clampitt finished first in the 100-meter dash. Emma Bohnenkamper finished first in the 1600 and third in the 3200-meter races.

Lady Tigers’ Remi Beckham won the 800-meter race and Angie Sanchez-Vijil received second. Mia Beckham won the 3200-meter race.

Abbigail Curtis won the 200 and had a second-place mark in the 100-meter sprint. Michaela Buriff earned first in the 300-meter hurdles.

Alexie Day (high jump), Shunterra Davis (long jump), Caitlin Kehler (pole vault) and  Lynae Dawson (discus) all finished first in their respective events for Warsaw.

The Lady Tigers compete on Tuesday in the NLC Championships at Goshen.

Boys basketball season returned to the Hardwood Teepee Tuesday night as Wawasee tipped off the season for area teams by hosting rival Fairfield.
