No Confidence

Recently there have been numerous letters to the editor supporting Mr. Goshert. I noticed in a recent ad that 7 out of 9 Kosciusko current police chiefs and marshals plus two area police department commanders support Kyle Dukes. Why? Because they do not have any confidence in the current administration.

Last year, after the caucus, Mr. Goshert said he was going to have a meeting with all the town police chiefs. This has not happened yet and we are five months into another year. We can all agree that the safety of our children in our schools is a top priority. Last year the sheriff’s department only went to one Warsaw school safety meeting. Not meeting with the police chiefs and attending the school safety meetings shows he is not putting our children and our families safety as a priority.

During the Rovenstine/Bronson case, Mr. Goshert was granted immunity. Immunity from what? Why would a person such as a sheriff need to be granted immunity from prosecution? Mr. Bronson is now in state prison.

This last year there have been numerous assaults and a rape that have taken place in the jail. Where was the administration during this? What changes have been made to ensure inmates' safety?

Months ago Kyle Dukes stated he would put a drug addiction program into place. On April 20, three weeks before the election, Mr. Goshert stated he was going to have an addiction program instituted at the jail. Why has this administration waited eight years to get this into place? Mr. Goshert is hearing what other candidates are saying and instead of being proactive he is being reactive and using their ideas.

Recently Mr. Goshert has stated that he has had a restart/ fresh start when he was appointed sheriff. If this administration has been running so well, why does it need a restart? Does this county need a restart of the same type of leadership that has prevailed for the last nine years? No!

It doesn't matter if you are a Republican or Democrat, our county, our communities and our families need to feel secure and have confidence in our sheriff’s department. We need a fresh start with Kyle Dukes as sheriff.

Chip Shots: How Callous IS It?
For every 700 to 1,000 words of mine you read on any given Saturday, I have a list of callous, cynical thoughts and remarks I can make about the topics I discuss… easily five-fold of what I allow past my filter and, in turn, e-mail to my editor.
