Norman Wayne Coffman, Saugatuck, Mich., passed away at his son’s residence in Winona Lake at 12:47 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at the age of 83.

He was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Battle Creek, Mich., to Clifton Wayne Coffman and Rhea Mae Olmstead Coffman.

Norman was a 1954 graduate of Howe Military Academy in Howe, then attended the University of Toledo in Ohio. He joined the U.S. Army in 1956 and was stationed in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1960.

He had been a resident of Kosciusko County for 31 years, where in 1962 he founded Warsaw Moving and Storage, operating it until 1993. Norman then founded the Four C’s Charters in Saugatuck, retiring in 2016.

He was a member of the Grand Lodge Free & Accepted Masons of Michigan, a Shriner, and a member of the Community Church of Douglas in Douglas, Mich.

Norman was first married to Mickie Saldivar on May 25, 1957, and divorced in 2006. Together they had two sons, Wayne (wife Tricia) Coffman, Naples, Fla., and Scott (wife Barb) Coffman, Winona Lake.

He was remarried on June 17, 2006, to Sarah Jean Sneider Coffman, who survives in Saugatuck.

He leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Dawn (husband Chris) Paris; Melissa Coffman; Cory (wife Elena) Coffman; Brittany (husband Paul) Miller; Zack (wife Megan) Coffman; Courtney, Haley and Mercy Coffman; Carla Quintero; and Josh Thomas; as well as 10 great-grandchildren: Jake, Brookelyn, Nicholas, Ashley, Evan, Kylie, Toby, Harrison, Stormy and Vanessa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Rosie Brickel; and a grandson, Stephen Brickel.

Services will be announced at a later date. He will be buried at Lakeside Cemetery, Colon, Mich.

Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.
