Valley Opens Softball Season, Loses At NorthWood

NAPPANEE – The Tippecanoe Valley softball team lost 11-0 at NorthWood on Monday night. 

Fielding was a problem for the Lady Vikings as they tallied six errors in the game.

The Lady Vikings faced a deficit early in the nonconference clash, allowing three runs in the first inning to the Lady Panthers.

Valley was able to keep NorthWood runners from crossing the plate in the second inning, but allowed five more runs in the third to push the home team’s lead to 8-0. 

In the fourth inning, the Lady Panthers scored three more runs and held the Lady Vikings in the top of the fifth inning to secure the win with a mercy rule.

Junior Sydney Howard was in the circle for Valley, pitching four innings. She allowed seven hits in the contest and had two strikeouts.

Senior Jordan Krotke, junior Alex Gomez and sophomore Kirstyn Yoder each had a hit in the game.

The Lady Vikings take some time off and are back in action on April 9 in a nonconference matchup with Triton. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
