Manchester Opens Track & Field Season At Southwood

WABASH – The Manchester High School boys and girls track and field teams competed Thursday night at Southwood. The boys won 78-45 and the girls won 91-32.

Isaiah Davis won the long jump (18-11) for the Squires and finished second in the 110-meter hurdles. Trey Clark won the 100-meter dash and Ethan Davis won the 3200-meter event.

Lance Bennett earned first in the 800-meter race and Jacob Burton tallied first in the 200-meter dash.

For the Lady Squires, Gabbie Brewer won four events. She had the top result in the 100 and 200-meter races; and the high and long jump events. 

Katie Barker earned first in the 110 and 300- meter hurdle races.

Mikayla Genovese tossed the shot put 29-1.50 to earn first. Emily Mize had a discus throw of 87-7, which resulted in a first-place nod.

Manchester is back in action on Tuesday as the teams compete at Central Noble.

Wawasee Track & Field Competes At Westview

TOPEKA – Wawasee’s boys and girls track and field teams traveled to Westview on Thursday to open up its 2018 outdoor track and field season. The boys lost 67-65 and the girls won 78-50.

Elisha Tipping won two events for the boys team. He tallied first in the discus (134-10) and shot put (44-3.50), scoring 10 points for the team.

Thomas Conley won the mile race for Wawasee, finishing in 4:58.30. Luke Griner earned first in the 800-meter race for the Warriors. Keyan Peete received first in the high jump. He jumped 5-6 to capture the top spot.

The 400-meter relay of LaShaun Morris, Chris Pena, Eric Yankosky and Peete crossed the finish first for Wawasee. The 1600-meter relay (Mark Miller, Griner, Peete and Yankosky) had the same outcome, finishing first with a time of 3:45.23.

For the girls, Hannah-Marie Lamle

finished first in the 100-meter dash (13.25). She tallied a time of 53.84 in the 300-meter hurdles, earning first for the Lady Warriors. She had a distance of 16-8.50 in the long jump, receiving first place.

Sara Pritchard tallied first-place results in the discus (110-2) and shot put (31-10) field events. Kenze Smith won the mile race (6:06.50) and the 800-meter race (2:40.65). 

Ella Beezley ran a 13.51.00 in the 3200-meter event and ended in first place. Jada Parzygnot had a height of 8-6 in the pole vault and finished first.

Wawasee will visit West Noble on Thursday for its next track and field meet.
