NORTH WEBSTER — Bridge results at the Senior Prime Enrichment center Tuesday were Mike Wyrick, first, and Wanda Wyrick, second.



Wednesday Night Bridge Group

The group had six tables this week, with the following winners: Dorothy Herring, Rosalee Spear, Annette Magner, Joan Earhart, Nancy Dalton, Grant Magner and Nannette Newland.  

Janet and John Wagley are hostess and host for March.  The next meeting is Wednesday.



Four Seasons Ladies Bridge

WINONA LAKE — Four Seasons Ladies Bridge met Wednesday at Grace Village.

Winners were Peg Zimmerman, Erma Swank, Sondra Dicken and Elaine Tripp.

Zimmerman was hostess.



Singles Meeting Friends

Members reported on recent activities at the group’s meeting Wednesday.

Some of the girls went to Wabash to visit Betty; they played euchre while they were there. Betty sent a story that was read at the meeting, “The Gift of Time,” about Alexander the Great on his deathbed.

Donna said Relay for Life is in full swing. A “Hacienda Gives Back” event is planned for April 18. Some from the group plan to go there at 6:30 that evening instead of to Martin’s Super Market for the regular weekly meeting.



American Association Of University Women

This month’s meeting of AAUW was March 17 in the community room at Miller’s Merry Manor.  

President Pam Chastain thanked the hostesses: Barb Johnson, Connie Stavropulos, Lois Nichols and Marsha Smith. She also thanked members for their donations to the Beaman Home.

Vice president for programs, Ruth Jones, introduced the speaker, Janette Stackhouse, who gave the program on growing and using herbs for health benefits and enhancing food preparation.  

The business meeting included information about the state meeting in Valparaiso on April 28.

National, state and local dues total was announced and are payable to the treasurer in April or May.

The group discussed recent proposals from National AAUW to amend the bi-laws. Changes would include three-year staggered terms on the board, a change in eligibility to serve on the board to include nonmembers, and a change in membership to no longer require a college degree. After discussion, members were encouraged to vote on the proposed amendments by going to the AAUW website from April 25 through June 9.   

Scholarship fundraisers will be Carson’s booklets in the fall, Kroger Community Rewards and the silent auction.  

The nominating committee of Jones and Doris Cook presented Stephanie Ducheteau as president-elect and Sarah Level as secretary.  These positions will be voted on in April.  Doris Cook will continue to serve on next year’s nominating committee and two volunteers are needed. The scholarship committee for 2018-19 will continue to be Renetta Erwin and Judy Servies.  

The April meeting will be at Jones’ home. Members are encouraged to bring their laptops or tablets to sign up for the Kroger Rewards program. Deb Messer from Grace College will speak about teen suicide prevention.



Grace Thursday Bridge

Grace Thursday Bridge met Thursday wth Paulene Holderman as hostess.

Winners were Rosalie Spear, Elaine Tripp and Kathy Clary.



Winona Literary Club

WINONA LAKE — The Winona Literary Club met Wednesday at the Robinhood Community Center with 24 members and two guests present.

Judy Broderick gave a book review on “Three Pines” by Louise Penny.

A short buisness meeting was followed by a sing-along of spring and Irish songs led by Norma Roose at the piano.  

The group closed with a prayer, followed by light refreshments.
