Pierceton Man Faces Battery Charges After Domestic Dispute

March 15, 2018 at 6:19 p.m.

A Pierceton man was arrested Wednesday on domestic battery charges after causing injuries to his girlfriend that left her bloody and unconscious.

Anthony Wayne Pollard Jr., 51, of 9567 E. Adams Road, Pierceton, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 5:43 p.m. Wednesday for domestic battery causing serious bodily injury, invasion of privacy and failure to appear. His bond was set at $11,750.

Court documents filed March 1 list the domestic battery causing serious bodily injury charge as a level 5 felony. A second count of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor, was enhanced to a level 6 felony because Pollard had a prior conviction of domestic battery in 2012.

Recently, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy Neil Likens was contacted about an EMS run to 9567 E. Adams Road. Upon arrival, Likens saw Pollard lying on the floor with a woman lying across his lap. The right side of the woman’s head was bloody, according to the probable cause affidavit.

When Pollard was asked how the woman was injured, he responded that she was trying to get out of bed, tripped on a blanket and hit her head on a concrete step. Pollard said the woman was not moving and that he picked her up and put her in bed. He then contacted police.

Pollard said when he returned to where the woman was laying, he helped her to the doorway.

Likens later spoke with her at a hospital where she was being treated.

The woman said the incident began when she was lying in bed after arguing with Pollard, who she said did not want her in the bed any longer. She said she put her hand up to motion for Pollard to be quiet and he bit her, leaving a blood blister, according to court documents.

After Pollard bit her, she said he pulled her off the bed, causing her to hit her head on a concrete step. Pollard allegedly continued to yell at her while she was on the ground.

After some time, the woman climbed back onto the bed to look for her phone to call for help. After not finding it, she said she crawled to the doorway.

She said he called 911 after she went unconscious for a third time.

The woman received stitches for a cut on her head and said her leg hurt.

A warrant was issued for Pollard’s arrest on March 1, with a $10,000 surety bond and $250 cash bond on the domestic battery charges.

A no-contact order between Pollard and the woman also was issued March 1.
